Looking for Images/Video of Tony Suit Raptors

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has any video or images of a Raptor in flight. I've had mine since January and need something to hold me off until the snow leaves and I can jump it. I jumped the Tony Suit "Intro" suit with Jeff N. in December and loved it so much that I bought a Raptor.

I've looked on SDM.com and youtube, but I can't find much at all on the Raptor.

Please help me make it through the next month or so...otherwise I'll be forced to run to Florida again just to get a jump or 2 in...(might be a good idea, but my wallet doesn't like it).

Thanks in advance!

My first wingsuit jump. Jumped with Jeff N (Heffro1) and fell in love with skydiving all over again.

The only Raptor picture I can get until I can jump it...

I am assuming the red Raptor you posted the pic of is yours. It is a nice looking suit.

I have a student who just received his new Raptor. I will see if we can get some video or stills of his posted soon.

Welcome to the flock and long flights!

Hey Chris,

Yes, the red suit is my new toy. I bought it from the classifieds just over a month ago. I was prepared to order a brand new one, but this one came up in the classifieds and it was basically built exactly for me.

I'm excited to jump it...just gotta figure out a cessna exit...haha. I assume the first few will be...Dive, tumble, recover, fly. Then to fixure out how to reach past all that wing and get the hackey. I've done lots of ground practice and it doesn't seem too bad, but any advice is greatly appreciated. (I'm meeting my fists over my ass and bringing them up my back and it seems to work well, on the ground).

Thanks for the suit comment, I'm not a huge fan of red, but for the price and fit, couldn't go wrong. As for long flights, I don't think that will be a problem. I'm 5'8 and 115 lbs. When I jumped the intro suit in the video above, my average speed on my Neptune was 54mph. Jeff said i made him and Mike work to keep with me. The Raptor should get me some decent flight time.

Thanks!

Chris

I was jumping my Ghost when a leg zipper snap broke. While it was being repaired by the local rigger, I borrowed the "Pink Stiletto" from Heffro1's demo fleet.

It was an early model. Had wing grippers that were tried but not incorporated into the later versions and also had the old style velcro/zipper combo along the body to zip in the rig and cut away the wing. Now the rig mounting zipper goes over the shoulder and cut away is a second zipper on the arm. My personal preference would be to have a cutaway system like the Stealth, not the twin zipper system Tony currently uses.

The Raptor flies a lot like the Ghost. It felt a little different due to how much the wing inflates vs the Ghost, but not drastically. I've put about ten jumps on it, and have no real complaints in the air. I just like my Ghost better because it is in my colors and it's mine.

Hey Chris,

Shortly after my FFC (with a PFI) in March last year, I met Jeff when he came to demo his suits at Elsinore in early April. He let me borrow a Raptor and I made 8 flights with it. These were wingsuit flights 6-13, so I wasn't in a great position experience-wise to evaluate the suit. Also, I was at first intimidated by the size of the arm wing, but I found the suit very stable to fly and had no issues at pull time.

Attached is a pic from that weekend of Tony (works at Elsinore), Jeff and me. Tony and I are wearing Raptors, Jeff is in a M1.

Here's a video of me flying the Raptor. Jeff didn't have his camera sighted in correctly, so unfortunately there's a big gap in the middle where I'm out of frame, even though I was right next to him. Scrub forward a little after I disappear and you'll see the Raptor in flight (well sort of, I seemed to be auditioning for the hated "feet on butt flocking club").

Welcome to the flock!
