CSPA Rigger 'A' Course

Recommended Posts

Contact Frankais at frankais@yahoo.fr , he's about to give that class with another rigger.

Two infos you might want to know before all: the course would be held somewhere between Quebec and Montreal and I strongly presume it will be in french.

So, he has to learn French, too? Brutal.

No, he does not have to learn french because the brighter Quebecois are bilingual!
When I took my PFF course in Valcourt, Quebec, I had to deliver lectures in french, then translate what I had just said to Rob Laidlaw, who was the Course Conductor.

Speaking of bilingual instruction, while working at Rigging Innovations, I trained a Swiss jumper to FAA Master Rigger level in french. That was because my french was better than his english. The only english-language part of the instruction was the part about the written exam, since he had to write that in english.

The Wet, er, West Coast of Canada shares your dilemma. There has not been a CSPA Rigger A Course in B.C. since 1999 or 2000. Every year Barry and John announce a course, but too few candidates sign up.
My only alternative is to train candidates to FAA Senior Rigger standard and send them to the DPRE in Washington State. I currently have one apprentice who is working towards her FAA Senior Rigger rating and two more people have expressed an interest in one-on-one training this winter.
My boss also announced that I am going to train myself and another rigger to CSPA Rigger B standard this winter. This will be amusing!
