BlindBrick 0 #1 October 26, 2003 I recnetly purchased a used canopy, what I received was not what I was told I was getting. I've posted my email and the seller's followup. I'd appreciate any thougths you have about what I should do. A complicating factor is that I need a main by November 1 so I'm in somewhat of a bind. Quote Hello, I recently purchased a PD300 from you. When we talked on the phone, the canopy was described as Black and Red, with an apperantly low number of jumps, and including the set of risers that it was attached to. What I recieved today was a red and yellow canopy with no risers and a fair amount of wear. When we talked, you had five similar canopies, so I can understand how easily this type of mistake could have been made. Given that, I am not angry, but I would like to get the correct canopy no later than October 31st. If you will contact me with instructions on how you want the canopy I currently have shipped, I'll get it back to you ASAP. In case you no longer have my address to send the correct canopy, it is: [snip my address] blues, This was his response. Quote Hi Mate, Sorry, but the risers were not air-worthy. Our rigger said not to send them. Also, mate it's the only red one in the batch. If you are not happy with the condition of the parachute, we can refund you your money. For two hundred dollars, the parachute is in very good condition. Let me know what you would like to do. webracer 0 #4 October 26, 2003 Sounds like a miscommunication issue to me. The seller is offering a refund, send it back. This stuff happens sometimes, especially of the sale is done through email.Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.
Blahr 0 #5 October 26, 2003 If you paid $200.00 the misunderstanding MAY have been on your end as well. At $200.00 I would have been expecting a canopy with a good bit of use and wear. If the seller claimed that it was in great shape with low jumps I might have been suspicious. If he claimed that its in great shape "for the price" that would seem much more reasonable. BadDog 0 #6 October 26, 2003 For $200 I'd expect the canopy to have at least 500 jumps on it and no risers. If risers were included in the $200, then I'd expect at least 600 jumps on the canopy. I think the only real issue here (other than not getting what you thought you were getting - which is not a small issue) is whether or not you like the color. Does it need new lines? sducoach 0 #8 October 26, 2003 As most have indicated. For $200 you may have expected too much. Send it back and take the refund. If Kolla vouches for Eddie, he's good for it. Blues, J.E.James 4:
BlindBrick 0 #9 October 26, 2003 QuoteI have worked quite a bit with Eddie and found him to be extremely plesant and true to his word. Kolla Cool, that's really what I wanted to hear. I realize that for $200 I can expect an older, heavily jumped canopy. My first instinct was to take him up on the refund offer. It was just that since the order had arrived different than what I was told on the phone, I was kind of hesitant. Having someone vouch for him helps a lot. thanks. -Blind"If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." dterrick 0 #10 October 26, 2003 Two hun for anything airworthy is pretty darn cheap colours be damned. The November 1 issue could be your undoing on this one. Maybe the seller will allow you to jump it for a couple weeks and offer you a partial or near complete refund? Something to be wary of at this point: You may return the goods as they were 'not as described' under the basic concepts of law. Rent something else in the mean time. If you use the goods you have 'accepted' them even if they are not as promised. If you enter into any other arrangement (sale back to him, temporary use, etc) you actually have a NEW contract where you are selling to HIM. Good luck and don't forget to factor the (replacement) rental costs into your decision. I'm guessing that you're going to learn to like yellow. I think I would. Dave PS: as an option, consider that a PD 300 is very similar to a Manta or an LR-288 (?) - student canopies found all across the country. Maybe your DZO or someone else close can help you out ...
