Wingsuit Weekend - Zwartberg (Belgium) - 3/4 March

Recommended Posts

March 3 and 4 (saterday/sunday) team flylikebrick (costyn, alex and myself) will be at Zwartberg (Belgium) organising a small wingsuit weekend.

Saterdaymorning there will be a (free) first jump course and the rest of the day and sunday is for the first flights with 1 on 1 coaching and video debrief (no extra coaching fee, only instructors slot)

Some of the other belgian/dutch flockers usualy present at schaffen (nearby dropzone) will also drop by, so next to the FJC and first flyers, there will also be flocking for those who already have their wings..

We already have 3 people lined up for their first flight, and some wingsuit flyers interested in coaching (working on forward speed, backflying etc.). if you want to join in on the fun, send us an email through flylikebrick.com and we'll make it a date!

See you there!

Small update.

We have 7 people lined for FJC and coaching atm.
We have a 10 level coaching program we will be using from this point on, aimed at teaching people more dynamic flying (more info on that shortly on our website, next to a new flight-manual video Im working on atm:)
And for those just wanting to fly, we'll put some fun jumps together with assistance by hans (aka gadget) and his belgian crew.
Sunday we will work our way towards putting more and more people together and getting some bigger flocks going.

For those eager to try flying something faster, we will have two demo skyflyer6 with us (next to our small fleet of classics).
There will also be blades and a Mach1 present for those interested in seeing them in flight. Asking nicely may result in getting to try them out, but no promises made:P

The first Zwartberg Wingsuit weekend..you wouldnt want to miss that one, would you?

We had a great weekend! Big 'thank you' for everyone who attended!!

Saterday started of with bad weather. 1000 ft cloud cieling, high winds and almost horizontal rain.

So some of the group took to laptop nerding at the DZ while we also used the bad weather to run the groundschool for the people who wanted to make their first flight the next day.

With lots of bored freeflyers and FS people watching the FJC, it soon developed into a lengthy Q&A session. With the onlookers asking more and more questions about wingsuit flight.
After about 2 hours, almost everyone present must have been ready to write a book on wingsuitflightB|

We ended the day, having dinner in a nice restaurant.

Sunday started of with clear blue skies, and got slighly more cloudy as the day passed. But the cloud cieling never got bellow 12K (only giving us a bit of 'industrial haze' as we exited the airplane at 13k)

After running through the whole FJC again briefly in the morning (just to make sure the information didnt get lost in the 2 hour Q&A session the previous day) Costyn and I started taking people up on their first flights.

We converted 4 skydivers into Birdmen that day, and all of them flew fantastic.

Congratulations Wim, Jurgen gaston and Luc!

The last one, Luc, currently ranking #1 at trackingderby.com for normal tracking, way surprised us with the forward speed he managed to milk from the BM classic we use for our FJC on his first jump. Flying in a body posture some of us with 100+ flights would envy.
But all 4 of them flew perfect. Some even getting in some docks on their first jumps already.

While Costyn and I where busy taking them up on their first few jumps, Alex took the group of experienced birds, and over the day organised and coached them to flying tighter and

tighter. Most people in the group had not done any real big flocks yet, so it was a learning experience for almost everyone involved.
Not achieving slotperfect formations, visualy improving each and everyones approach and proximity to the base on every jump.

Hans (aka gadget) did a great job at flying Base on those jumps. Giving everyone a steady and smooth flying point to focus on and fly towards.

All the group jumps where briefed and debriefed with video by Alex.
Giving everyone honest but positive comments and pointers on their flying.

We ended the day with a nice dinner at a nearby restaurant with the whole group.

Over the next few months, we'll be visting several belgian DZ's for big and small (sometimes impromptu) wingsuit days/weekends. (More announcements on those dates and events coming soon)

Ive already started working on a short video of past weekend (in the train to work:) this morning, so hopefully Ill have the video online before next weekend.

In total we had 16 birds present, flying (next to a few S3/Phamtom and Classics) almost every top of the line suit from the different brands avaiable today (Mach1, V2, Matter, Sfly and Blade).

Thank you all for coming, and hope to see you again next time!

p.s.
The photo was taken at the end of the day, when some people had already left, so theres three people 'missing in action' here.
