nubain1 0 #1 October 21, 2003 How should I store my rig for a unknown length of time. I'm going to quit jumping for a while and need to know the best way to store it for the long haul.I don't know how long I'll be out or if I'll ever jump again so I might end up selling everything after a while. PhreeZone 20 #2 October 21, 2003 Keep it all in a cool, dry dark place. If you have a Cypres I'd go ahead and have the rigger pull it from your rig. This will prevent gear damage if the battery leaks or something if its not used/inspected for a few years. Overall I'd keep the rig in a dufflebag in the back of a closet. If I had the room I'd unpack the main and reserves and let them go unpacked into duffle packs also.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
rigging65 0 #3 October 21, 2003 Unpack the rig entirely, remove the cypres and store it separately (or sell it, it de-values so quickly, you'll get more for it now than if you wait. You can generally find them used without to much trouble to replace it when you're ready to get back "in"). Put each of the unpacked, loose canopies into their own dark, trash bag and tie it shut. Keep metal out of contact with the canopy fabric (ie - bag grommets, links, etc.). Bundle the whole thing into another trash bag (or duffle bag), then store the whole lot in a dark, cool, climate controlled closet. She'll be happily waiting for you whenever you decide to come back to her! "...and once you had tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward.
