It shows his verticle speed to often be in the low 50 MPH range.
mccordia 74 #2 September 11, 2006 Yes...thats correct.. Costyn was mostly flying for distance, so he could have had lower downward speeds had freefall time been his focus. I think a lot of flyers in here are capable of doing down to 40 mph flights, and even brief stints approaching 30 mph-ish speeds.JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? Average vertical speeds on my Phantom flights are usually 48-50mph. To add to that. Mid-30 mph averages are quite common on BASE jumps. Thick air makes a big difference. Kris. Check the other video I uploaded as well, the visuals are a lot better. Yes, the data is correct here. I was going for max-glide ratio, and not minimal downward speed. 50mph is not very difficult. Jarno (McCordia) occasionally does 35 mph after breakoff. Although we don't have any GPS data on forward speed from him (yet).Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
freeflir29 0 #5 September 11, 2006 Cool.............I haven't gotten around to trying the wingsuit thing yet. Mostly because I don't think my canopy (Vengeance 150@1.5-1.6) and a wingsuit would be very safe. When I find a nice used Spectre I'll go get Chuck or Scott to show me the ways. Thanks for the videos! Very cool.
