TomAiello 26 #1 August 23, 2006 ...check this out. I'm not sure if it's really a "wingsuit." It might be more of a tracking suit. Still, it's sure more interesting than the "my brand is better than yours" bickering. Oh, and I'm pretty sure those are real wind tunnel tests, too. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
nathaniel 0 #2 August 23, 2006 Looked like he was propped up in the wind tunnel... Cool nonetheless. Flown it outside the lab yet? What kind of performance does it get?My advice is to do what your parents did; get a job, sir. The bums will always lose. Do you hear me, Lebowski? Costyn 1 #4 August 23, 2006 QuoteQuoteWhat kind of performance does it get? This kind, I'd bet. Heh awesome pic. Okay so it's an amazing looking suit, very cool. It just very fast and sleek and everything, but I can't help thinking that this thing will be outflown by most wingsuits? It is still a trackingsuit. If you're gonna go this far with a tracking suit, why not put these sorts of modifications on a wingsuit? Then you'll really get awesome performance (especially that integrated rig + deflector combo is very cool). Anyone know the reasoning behind it? Or is it a "just because we can" project, which is cool too of course. mccordia 74 #5 August 23, 2006 Going for a big wingsuit on steroids, integrated rig, sleek helmet etc. seems to make more sense to me as well.. It reminded me of this btw. http://vyle-art.com/gallery/albums/speedpaintings/mount_F.jpgJC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

VectorBoy 0 #7 August 23, 2006 I think they are also working, or have worked, on a modified wingsuit, custom for their application, playground. I love this suit boyz. I want one for riding my motorcycle. With designs like these you have my permission to tease the fat americans.

If you're gonna go this far with a tracking suit, why not put these sorts of modifications on a wingsuit? Have you seen Virtus 2? You can download it from Skydivingmovies (BASE section). There's an interesting head to head comparison (WS versus a VKB tracking suit) about 4:20 minutes into the movie...

Imagine having to bail on the flight because you've flubbed the exit or something, and pitching that low with your arms and legs still tied up in the wingsuit. Tracking suits allow BASE jumpers to open significantly closer to obejcts (including hills, slopes, and tourists standing on slight rises) with a much greater safety margin.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
yuri_base 1 #10 August 23, 2006 Quotethis thing will be outflown by most wingsuits In terms of glide ratio, yes. But for the thrill of flying at amazing horizontal speed, a sleek suit optimized for glide ratio 1.4 with minimum drag will beat wingsuits hands down. Prodigy pants do 140mph horizontally easy, but they are not optimized for minimum drag. A suit like this will be a true Speed Satan!
