BlindBrick 0 #1 October 14, 2003 are there any containers TSO'd for over 254 lbs? I just moved to CO and my dzo doesn't want me jumping because my weight exceeds the TSO. I've made arangements for a Raven Max but had totally forgot about contianers having a weight limit too. -Blind"If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." skybytch 273 #2 October 14, 2003 I recently heard that new Javelin's and Odyssey are TSO'd up to 300 pounds exit weight.
Casch 0 #3 October 14, 2003 Shoot a PM over to KellyF, he's the owner of Velocity Air Sports, they make the Infinity H&C. I know they're TSO'd for at least 250 lbs
riggerrob 643 #4 October 14, 2003 Most harness/containers are TSOed for a maximum supsended weight of 254 pounds under TSO C 23C. A few of the containers (Reflex and Wings) that were TSOed under C23D (after 1993) are approved for heavier weights. Another option for really big guys is tandem rigs that have been modified for student use, but they don't come cheap. Note this is primarily a legal issue as most harness/containers are built way over-strength. The real issue is getting canopies that will survive high speed openings at heavy weights. Oh, and there is that silly thing about canopies that land softly enough to keep your ankles intact!

BlindBrick 0 #7 October 14, 2003 QuoteMaybe weightwatcher's Definately. I packed on some pounds after an injury sidelined me for about 8 months. However, weight loss won't solve the problem immediately, which is what I need to happen as my team is waiting on me to begin training for Collegiate Nationals. -Blind"If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." NightJumper 0 #8 October 14, 2003 Racers are TSO'd under 23B standard catagory, which is the unlimited catagory. We make standard rigs with 300 Firebolt mains for large people.
billbooth 10 #9 October 15, 2003 You have to buy a rig AND reserve canopy that is TSO'ed in category "B" or "D". Only the stuff TSO'ed under "C" are weight limited to 254 lbs. Gear in "B" is "unlimited", and gear in "D" may have any specific limit the manufacturer chooses. Vectors and Microns are TSO'ed in "B".

I've ordered a RavenMax which is Cat D and rated to 317 if I remember corretcly. I'm really excited about the Skyhook and checked with you guys, but was told that orders placed now wouldn't be filled until early next year, which would be a tad late for Collegiate Nationals. OTOH, if the student vectors are cat B I might be able to find one of them around. I figured student gear would probably be the only used gear I'd likely find that would hold a 288 zp or 320 F1-11 main and 288 reserve. -Blindbrick"If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." mjosparky 4 #12 October 17, 2003 If you just moved to CO, you have to consider that your openings will at a much higher altitude adding more stress on the container/canopy.My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Low speed is 3,000 lb.My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

That's why I went with the Raven Max as it is suppossed to be incredibly over-engineered. I also found a Falcon 300 which should be ok for the non-emergency situations. -Blind ."If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
