base698 20 #1 October 13, 2003 I am about to need new lower control lines on my canopy. I was thinking about installing them my self. How hard would this be to do, and how much is a finger trapping tool?
Samurai136 0 #2 October 13, 2003 That tool is cheap. 7$ for a set of 3. You could even use piano wire. It's the sewing machine that's a bit more expensive. Ken"Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Ken No need, you can double fingertrap it and it will be just fine. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
b1jercat 0 #4 October 13, 2003 Hi base698, as a new jumper I assembled my whole rig including the control lines under the supervision of a rigger it's not hard at all. Simply get the right material and go to it. Have a rigger check your work. At my DZ on weather days we sit around and make closing loops for sport rigs and tandems. The finger trapping tools we use are all home made. Simply take 2ft small diaminter stainless steel wire and double it, than attach the free ends to a handle. You too can be a finger trapping fool. blue skies jerry
MrHixxx 0 #5 October 13, 2003 If you get a blunt needle, it is easy to finger trap with these. Then I will just make a square knot that fits inset in the gromet. This way if you want to change your settings later, it is easy to un-tye the knot and adjust it. Allow another inch of length for the knot. When I do a new finger trap and I have just a line marking the factory setting, I add about an inch and a half to account for the expansion of the line from the finger trap and the knot.
