SCARYPERRY 0 #27 December 8, 2005 i may be wrong here, but mechanical altis work on barametric pressure, might not work on back, but if everyone wears on chest for other types of flying.....aircraft desend at angles, they dont have problem!!barametric pressure is constant, doesnt change with angle of attack in dive,or airflow now does it!!!Only he can be happy, who can make his the present hour, for today he has lived
pbla4024 0 #28 December 8, 2005 But pressure changes along the profile. That's how the wing works. Fido
GeordieSkydiver 0 #29 December 8, 2005 Yes Perry, But in an aircraft the static vent (where the air pressure goes in) is remotely placed and sometimes multiple, so the altimeter gets an average reading from both (or more).Hmmm, 4 neptunes, one on front, one on back, one in helmet, and one on your calf, all wired together and displayed on a HUD. That would work. Maybe we need a VSI too? Now, where to mount the pitot probe......Lee _______________________________ In a world full of people, only some want to fly, is that not crazy? http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk
SkymonkeyONE 4 #30 December 8, 2005 Jason, I know plenty of people that fly wingsuits with chest-mounted altis with no problem whatsoever. This, assuming belly-to-earth flight. I would not trust a chest mount if I were back-flying anywhere near pull altitude. Chuck
LouDiamond 1 #31 December 15, 2005 QuoteWouldn't it be sweet if we had an audible that announced the altitude every 2K or so Ask and ye shall receive. A wingsuit friendly version will be available and as you can probably guess, it will be Paralog friendly for readouts and GPS data.
