mccordia 74 #79 August 25, 2006 Quote There is only a 100 Phantoms out there? Shame on the wingsuit community Shame??? A few years back we would have been happy having 100 wingsuit flyers worldwide in total... Now we're having boogies with almost 100 people in wingsuits attending.. But you could always buy a second one? Small side-subject..anybody have a rough estemate on how many (active)wingsuit flyers there are worldwide? Sadly suit serial numbers wouldnt help, because there's people that own 10 different suits out there (Envy those bastards..I only have one) Looking at the different boogies last summer, I'd say europe would score around 150 or so flyers...?? *edit* We're also coming up on 30.000 posts on the wingsuit forum btw. Thats a milestone as well... and just checked thats 556 posts by me...anyone a bigger wingsuit-forum post-whore? *edit2* Damn that The111 with his 940 posts!!!! *edit3* The current winner would probably be LouDiamond with 1441!!JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? KrisFlyZ 0 #81 August 25, 2006 QuoteShame? Why? Phantom is just one suite and there are plenty and more is coming. The Phantom is the best suit to jump out of an airplane. It is small enough for beginners and performs like a champion (well...do I need to get into that?). IMO, the phantom is a suit every wingsuit pilot buying a first suit should consider. I think it is sad that only 100 people own a Phantom. As for Jarno's argument of the total number of wingsuit pilots in Europe being 150, I'll disagree...there is probably close to 100 WS BASE jumpers in Europe. Kris. SkymonkeyONE 4 #82 August 26, 2006 QuoteThere is only a 100 Phantoms out there? Shame on the wingsuit community . Kris. What the hell are you talking about Kris? I don't get it. You have like nine wingsuits, but I can't believe you have more than 50 jumps on any of them. Make your mind up for god's sake. I don't mean to sound shitty, but I really don't get your comment. KrisFlyZ 0 #83 August 26, 2006 What is there to not get? I am just disappointed that more people are not flying the Phantom. "Shame on the wingsuit community" is like I am disappointed in you class . But mostly it is just shock that there were less than 100 Phantoms out there. I believed there were a lot more out there....should have used (this was my first choice). instead of . You're right...I probably have less than 50 jumps in total on the Phantom. Shows how easy to fly the suit is if I can fly it at 2 plus Glide Ratio on BASE jumps. I flew it back from Smellveggan and pulled over the green landing area next to the campground. When did you start keeping records of how many suits I have? . I own three wingsuits a Prodigy, a Phantom and a V2(in production). As for making up my mind....what are you talking about? Kris.
stratman05 0 #84 August 26, 2006 I think there needs to be more on the used market before beginner jumpers (to intermediate) start buying them more. I got a GTi because that's what was available at the time (and price).

Dude...you seriously need help...where did I have an argument about the number of wingsuit pilots? I wondered how many and did what I believed to be an estemate...feel free to get into an actual conversation at any time Though I have to say the 'fingers in your ears and scream the same thing over and over' routine is quite entertaining as well...JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? RayLosli 11 #87 August 26, 2006 yes the colors are not to bad. Red on the top so other flyers can see easy & all black on the bottom. so when I am pulling in the dirt the other jumpers can see me coming in better. ... I am crying like a little girl right now. I got a busted leg-wing zipper and am waiting for a replacement so I can get it sewn-up. All the thread picking and clean up is done and the WS is laying on the machine ready to be fixed. zipper should be in soon. It blew out on the last jump of the last day of lost prairie boogie a few weeks back. I only did a couple 2-way and 1-4-way. not to many ws people there this year A flew it every jump & every day and worked on my knees. doing a tight spread and then making subtle changes for doing flat turns while keeping the drive turned up. The Phantom is so nice and it will be awhile before I get it all figured out for all the different ranges it can be flown. .

I don't think the GR translates very well from skydiving to BASE. I'm not sure why (wind, perhaps, or air density, or measuring precision?) but it seems like the best BASE flights (where GR can be measured more precisely because altitude and distance are pretty close to known from topo maps) are significantly exceeding the GR achieved on the best skydives.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
SkymonkeyONE 4 #94 August 26, 2006 Another thought here which may debunk Kris' assumption: Are all of these terminal BASE sites at or near sea level, or are they as I presume, at MSL altitudes which would coincide with the altitude density one would experience at standard skydiving wingsuit altitudes? Do you follow me here. If the MSL altitude of the landing area at any of these magnificent BASE wingsuit sites is at or above 4000 feet, then Kris' hypothesis is poop. If the landing areas at these sites is near sea level then altitude density is for sure a factor. Either way, that's just something that popped into my head. Most of the popular Norwegian sites are very near sea level. But the flights in Switzerland (for example) are often quite high. I can think of one US flight that has a landing altitude around 4000' MSL, but I don't think anyone has ever flown it for max glide (even with his old Classic, YK probably would have smacked the other side of the valley there the first time he flew it, had he not started diving over the landing area).-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

chris74 0 #98 August 27, 2006 Hi birds, Density for sure but during a WS base jump you are mentally and technically on the top so it is why you ( and you have to ! ) do some fucking good flights. It is just my 2 cents. Blue skies Chris PS Kris your ex-V1 fucking rock and I can hear its legwing flapping of happiness because it's time to go ! phoenixlpr 0 #99 August 27, 2006 Our airfield is about +75m over the see level. I don't still have great glide ratios. Does pattern matter? I suspect the in WS BASE they can fly a strait line.
