FeetFlyer 0 #1 September 9, 2005 Next week I'm going to do my first wingsuit balloonjump and I would appreciate it if you could give me some tips on how to make my exit? <>
dragon2 2 #2 September 9, 2005 I only have one balloon jump, with my S3 & with camera. I just sat on the basket and just let myself drop off, keeping head-high. Armwings open, legwing closed. Unfortunately for the rest of the passengers I went stable . Made for a very boring video Another first-timer (no wingsuit) got told: exit on your back, that way you get to see the balloon. TALONSKY 0 #3 September 9, 2005 I only done a few jumps (fully zipped in first) but what I did was grab as high as I could on the cage and tuck your legs up to swing them on to the edge of the basket. Now this entire thing is a bit of a pain but from there shift your weight between your feet and your hands to shimie your way to standing. Now your standing on the edge of the basket using your hands to hold on to the frame of the basket. You can either go off facing out or step off backwards. What I mean by that is just hop back to clear the balloon but still fly belly to earth so you will fly under the basket. I was filming someone on both jumps to they left from the other side outfacing and I faced them and stepped off backwards. I found on the second one if I wait just a second after they exit before exiting I caught their entire flight on video. These are not the best frame grabs but here are a few of them

RevJim 0 #5 September 11, 2005 I agree with the comments above, and I stress to make sure you keep your leg wing closed until you pick up some air speed. Here:http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=1723 Is the shot from the basket of my jump with my original classic. The jump did work out fine (~28 seconds from 5100 feet), but I opened my legs waaay too soon, causing myself to go head low too fast. I have no doubts I could have goten closer to 40 seconds had I paused longer on the legs. It's your life, live it!
