LouYoung 0 #1 October 10, 2003 Reading the Superfly made me go and take a look ath manufacturers website as well as do some research on pop-tops. Since everyone pretty much says the Superfly is a good container (without taking the pop-top into consideration), but everyone seems to have a DIFFERENT opinion on pop-tops, does anyone have any experience with the TSE Zerox? I did want to hijack that other thread, so I'm posting another about the Zerox. The Zerox is the same price, looks to be pretty much the same container, but doesn't have any of the negatives of the pop-top. Is the Zerox any good? And who knows anything about the different materials TSE uses? It's the first manuf. I've seen offer leather, suede, "Alienskin", etc. That Alienskin looks like plastic that might tear. Is it durable? Lou
riggerrob 643 #2 October 11, 2003 Alienskin is a specially woven nylon fabric. It looks to be stronger - on the bias - than regular 400 denier ParaPack. I would buy a Teardrop Superfly before I would buy a Xerox.

The fabric's weird, it's very 'loose' compared to the same rig in cordura, I don't think it'll last as long as cordura but it looks pretty cool GusOutpatientsOnline.com

I have seen and packed a couple of TSE rigs made of the "Alien skin" - it is very similar, in fact almost identical, to the same type of material that Sunpath use. (Do they call theirs diamond back? Not sure on that one) Can't comment on its durability but it looks and feels nice enough - certainly doesn't feel as though it might tear.
