lurch 0 #1 August 9, 2005 Does anyone know the exact specs of the relevant parameters of Loic's famous ski slope video? I'd like to know: The exact angle of the slope...45 degrees? 30? The length of the slope he had to work with. Exact forward speed and descent rate. Loic? Anyone?Live and learn... or die, and teach by example.
veter_ 0 #2 August 9, 2005 And the main question: is there such a slope in New England?

KrisFlyZ 0 #8 August 10, 2005 I don't think he measured it with a protractor before jumping but bu guess is that 45(1:1 GR) and lower angle slopes are ambitious for a project like this. Kris.
veter_ 0 #9 August 10, 2005 From the video, it certainly doesn't look like 45 degrees (look at the people standing on the slope). More like 30. And Loic is seen flying in "max it out" body position. I would say at least 2:1 glide ratio.

mccordia 74 #11 August 10, 2005 You can fly in a 'maxed out' position, and still go straight down. It depends on the angle of attack..which can be anything from completely flat to almost headdown.. Although I do agree that the mid section of the slope looks like more then 45 degrees...the skiers seem to be standing quite normal, where you'd definatly be leaning to one side a lot if it was 45 degrees...JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? Costyn 1 #12 August 10, 2005 From what I understand he was not maxed out, as to have some margin in case he needed it. Also, it was a ridge he was flying along, so if he felt he needed it, he could always fly off to the side and into 'safety' of more altitude. Nevertheless, its a truly awesome video, and I just watched that other video of his, where he flies alongside a cliff and through a gap between two rocks... (and breaks his camera lens at the end. Hehe) Simply amazing. Serious brass balls that guy. Respect! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
