dima39 1 #1 October 7, 2003 Hi! I'm new in this forum like writer, but i'm frequent viewer! So, sorry for my bad english, i better speak/write in russian/italian (yes, i'm from Ukraine, but speak italian: better than ukrainian)) I'a finaly decided to by own rig (don't want more to use rental gear - to big and loose for me!!!) I need a help for harness/container size. I'm 135-140#, 5'9''? (1.75-1.76 m). If anybody can give me some advise for a harness/container size? I think, that like 135/135 main/reserve is just right for me (may be a little bigger/smaller). Thanks you for attention!!! Dmitriy
andy2 0 #2 October 7, 2003 a lot of container manufacturers have their harness sizes listed so you can check out what size would fit your range. Also many people sell used their containers and tell you about what size might fit. Fictional example: skydiver A is selling a javelin sized for someone who is 5'8-5'9". Maybe that rig would fit you? Maybe not? The only way to tell for sure would be to take it up in the air for a jump! All of our bodies are different and a rig that fits your friend who is 5'9" might not suit you just right. Maybe someone else will have something to add... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... dima39 1 #3 October 7, 2003 I'm more disapointed about harness size (for ex. somebody with 1000+ j's have to sell container/main/reserve that i need - NO, i don't need pocket rockets, but can take a Sabre, Spectre, Safire etc/) But he is more havier/taller or lighter/lower than i'm. Is it a problem to ajust harness size? I
SkymonkeyONE 4 #4 October 7, 2003 In a Jav, I would say C-16 or C-17. You are sort of light, so you could probably get away with a "B" yoke, but an "A" would probably be too tight up top and your chest strap would sit up high.
skybytch 273 #5 October 7, 2003 Here's a handy formula for determining what harness size "might" fit you. Height in inches minus inseam measurement in inches minus 20. Examples - You're 69 inches tall. Let's say you have an inseam measurement of 30 inches. 69 - 30 - 20 = 19 - so you'd likely fit into a harness with a 19" main lift web. I'm 68 inches tall with an inseam of 33. 68 - 33 - 20 = 15 - so I'd likely fit into a harness with a 15" main lift web (and I do). You don't mention how many jumps you have; if not many I'd suggest canopies larger than 135 sq ft for starters.
dima39 1 #6 October 7, 2003 Thanks, Skymonkey! Yes, i'm not a big guy...(something like 135-140 naked, 160-165 on exit). With all rigs that i prooved before i need pull well chest strap and leg straps (' don't go away from gig during FF!!!). I jumped ATOM (00 or 0) with PD 170 that fit me good, but PdF don't have harness size on their web site
