Martini 0 #1 March 17, 2005 Does anyone know if the Forerunner/Foretrex 201 is Macintosh friendly or is it pc only? Ditto for the Mapsource software. I've asked Garmin but haven't yet received a response.Sometimes you eat the bear..............
KrisFlyZ 0 #2 March 17, 2005 I think it should work with any computer that has a serial connection. I think they have Mapsource for Mac as well. Check [url "http://www.garmin.com/cartography/mapsourceTutorial.html"]this page [url]. Kris.
Tink1717 2 #3 March 17, 2005 According to the tech support people at Garmin, none of their products are Mac compatible.Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway... Martini 0 #4 March 17, 2005 Thanks for the link Kris. Interestingly Mapsource tutorials are available for both Mac and pc but according to the link "our MapSource products don't support Macs at this time ". I guess that eventually we'll add a pc here as there is a lot of software that's pc only but my wife will never get over it.Sometimes you eat the bear.............. Martini 0 #5 March 17, 2005 Yeah Tink, It looks like getting a Garmin would be a poor investment for me. Too bad, Flyingfishman is doing very cool stuff with his Forerunner (or was until it locked up).Sometimes you eat the bear..............

flyinfishman 0 #7 March 17, 2005 It's working again. The display got stuck on "software loading" when I ran the updater. I had to wait 12 hours for the battery to die, then I was able to run the updater and fortunately none of the tracks were lost. The thing that sux about the logbook software is that the speed graph disappears off the screen. I guess Garmin figures no one will ever be able to run at 150mph! I'd also think that if I were running at over 100mph for 2 minutes I would burn more than 30 calories Photomaps displays the speeds at each track point though.
