voodew1 0 #51 March 26, 2005 First flight: Suit is big on me extremely - left the plane popped the wings and stopped!!! Average was 40mph per protrack lows in the 27mph range highest was 64mph Didn't seem to have the drive but it was a cool flight I agree the suit could use some "cleaning up" The reserve handle falling inside the suit is scary. Overall it was cool and I would buy one if some of the safety issues were addressed THANKS PAUL!!!!!!!! let me know where you want me to send it to next - back to you or to the next demo jumper I will try and get some pics over this weekend before I send it off. Thanks again Jason The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
voodew1 0 #52 March 28, 2005 Well my 2 weeks for having the suit are up - of the 3 wingsuit flyers at the DZ we each got 1 jump on it due to bad weather or slammed with students. I would say everyone liked to fly it - it was very different from what we normally fly and we would all like to see some small changes with the suit. My overall opinion is the suit is very easy to fly just spread your arms and legs and the suit does the rest - dearch and shoulder cupping don't due much to effect flight (at least it didn't for me but the suit was extremely baggy on me) For me I seemed to fly like intended if I put pressure or pushed down with me feet. The suit didn't turn as crisp as my usual it was kind of washy. Of these reviews remember I was only able to jump the suit 1 time so take them as you will Overall I liked the suit - would like to be able to jump it more but my time is up and I am waiting to find out where to send it next. bodypilot1 0 #59 March 31, 2005 QuoteHere is the before pic Sorry no airtime pics as the camera man was way low and I refused to go that fast Jason The suit I used and everyone I have seen in the suit has had the same fit, except I pretty sure Pauls arms are abit longer. How did you exit from the 182? I know of a guy that was literally pulled out of the door of a Beech 99 about 2 miles short of the DZ because he looked out the door, maybe abit too much, and somehow managed to get the suit to inflate inside the plane pulling him out sideways. We've gotten 4 Birdman suits out on the step of a 182 before and launched, but I'd imagine it would be impossible to face the prop while holding onto the strut in this suit, so I suspect you sat back to the firewall, put your feet on the step and exited diving to the rear? Be safe. Edwww.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
speedformula 0 #60 March 31, 2005 I think they're flying the otter on that DZ. Otherwise the way you described the exit is the only way I could imagine exiting the 182 (safely) paul Keeping it real 22x7
voodew1 0 #61 April 1, 2005 First as for the fit I am 5'9 and 155lbs -- Professor is 5'11 200ish and it fit him quite well. As for the 182 thing I jumped it out of a C206 withthe rear cargo door and just hopped out and popped -- Professor or Flyinbob jumped out of the 182 I think. As for the birdman on the 182 step we normally go 3 on the step and one diver. Professor will actually get on the other side of the strut and launch on his back which would easily give us 4 on the step but why? Maybe my partners will chime in on the sugarglider 182 thingy The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
Professor 0 #62 April 1, 2005 Yeah, Voodew jumped it out of a U206, and I went out of a 182. I didn't really dare try to climb out, the suit was inflated pretty well in the plane, so I didn't want to take the risk. I think this excess inflation is due to the suit being mono wing, and having a very large leg wing inlet. There's really no way to choke off the inlets, like on the multiwing suits. I'm not really sure why this thing even needs a leg inlet, actually. I just dove out, and it was fine. No additional challenges from the suit. If we've still got it this weekend, and I can get more jumps on it, I'll try climbing out. Should be interesting. Ted Like a giddy school girl.
voodew1 0 #63 April 1, 2005 Sorry Ted --- TomAiello should have it in his hands by now ready to jump it off a cliff or some sort of fixed object. No more SG for you!!!! High winds tomorrow stay at work. Had the day off but I am going to go to work anyway due to shitty winds---if it getss better I'll take off and go to the DZ The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
TomAiello 26 #64 April 2, 2005 QuoteSorry Ted --- TomAiello should have it in his hands by now... Headed to Ogden tomorrow for some of them airplane jumps to get acquainted. Then I'll proceed to other, undisclosed locations. I'll post some photos and thoughts when I'm done. Honestly, after putting the suit on, it wasn't nearly as huge as my memory had made Shaun's. Or maybe this one really is smaller. Regardless, here comes fun, or trouble, or both. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
