kallend 2,148 #1 July 30, 2004 OK, no BMI at our DZ to ask (he's hurt). I have made 19 exits into the direction of flight without incident, and one basically at right angles to the fuselage and presenting to the relative wind, also without incident. I'd like to try a diving exit next. So what is the technique?... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
bodypilot1 0 #2 July 30, 2004 Do it the same as you would without a suit, but hold off on spreading your wings for just a second or two and keep your head high. Its very easy. -www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

SkymonkeyONE 4 #4 July 30, 2004 The less you worry about it, the better it will work. Just put you feet up on your butt for a second and keep your head up, like Ed said.
ManBird 0 #5 August 2, 2004 And just to toss in two reasons why you should leave your feet on your ass: 1. To level out more quickly (duh) 2. To prevent a flatspin/tailspin due to assymetrical presentation of your tail into the wind Backing up Ed and Chuck -- don't think about it too much. Even if you do get into a flatspin, you have about 10,000' of freefall to work it out. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
PhreeZone 20 #6 August 2, 2004 I'm liking the 270 back flip out of Tailgates and even from Otters. Exit in a sit and continue the rotation till you see the world coming around again and punch it hard and away you fly.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

namdrib 0 #8 August 3, 2004 Ok, I have to add my input for a fun exit. I have found that leaving a King Air like you are going to do headdown is fun as hell. Go out looking at the tail and rotate off of the hill like you are headdown. Keep that rotation going until you fly away. It is a blast. I'm sure that this is considered a "gainer" as well, but didn't want to sound like a tard if it wasn't. (*Had to learn this exit for our "inexperienced pilot" who can't seem to get the exit speed down, plus he decided to "Want to watch me exit one day and did a left bank. Not a very good feeling seeing the tail miss my head by inches.) Anyway, you will find that getting unstable "Can be fun". Experiment with it, that is the way you build confidence and learn. Have fun.Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!
