Courteney 0 #1 July 15, 2004 Hey there, Just ordered my first wingsuit, a Birdman GTi. Now I've only jumped once but it was pretty successful. It was with a 100" bridle, 28" PC with a dynamic corner mod. Now I know and understand the logic behind it but can one jump successfully with "normal" equipment safely? I don't have a second rig and my wife wouldn't appreciate me modifying her rig. Cheers, Courteney....drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
CanuckInUSA 0 #2 July 15, 2004 There is no harm in jumping a rig with a long bridle even if you aren't doing a wingsuit jump. The only downside is that cocking the longer bridle can be a pain in the rear end. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
LouDiamond 1 #3 July 15, 2004 Quotecan one jump successfully with "normal" equipment safely? Yes, you can use standard equipment. However, the mods are recommended because they eliminate the probability of a few situations you might one day find yourself in. Modified gear can also be safely used for normal skydiving."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
Courteney 0 #4 July 15, 2004 Cool man, Thanks...that's all I wanted to know. Like I said, I understand the reason for the mods and one day I'll use them...till then just wanted to know if I could jump. I hear that you must just arch a bit before you dump. Any advice on that? Adios....drags me down like some sweet gravity!!!
piisfish 140 #5 July 15, 2004 jumping a wingsuit with "short" bridle, "small" PC and uncut corners is survivable, but not recommended. Just be aware that strange openings and PC in tow are something which will be more likely to happen.scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
TALONSKY 0 #6 July 15, 2004 As everyone else has already said the mods are recommended. However, I have jumped a Talon, Javelin, Infinity, and Eclipse (I really do not recommend this container for wingsuits) without any mod and have never had any issues. I did order and use a longer bridle now that I fly an S3. Kirk
diablopilot 2 #7 July 15, 2004 Quote. Now I know and understand the logic behind it but can one jump successfully with "normal" equipment safely? Yes. I have several hundred wingsuit jumps on non modified containers. Most with a pull out system. Many with standard length bridles. The longer bridle is an easy change and doesn't negatively effect normal skydiving. I recommend it. Otherwise jump what you have unless it becomes a problem.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. ManBird 0 #8 July 15, 2004 I generally use a standard length bridle and 28" ZP PC. I had a PC in tow with a 9' bridle, believe it or not. It's all in how you deploy. Just don'[t dump in full flight I have a 10' bridle and 32" PC that I use with my S3's BASE pouch. No hesitations there . It's good for dumping in full flight and practicing for wingsuit BASE, which I'll be doing in early October. Not recommended for general skydiving: "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
