SimonM 0 #1 May 10, 2004 Hi All, I know that there are a couple of S-fly's out there so I am looking for some tips or technique hints to improve my S-fly flight. I seem to have the basic body position relatively sorted: straight, wide legs, toes not too pointed, arms out wide with the pressure on my bicep/elbow area (shoulders not 'rolled' over as with the classic2). Body flat to slightly de-arched and looking down and forward at a roughly 20 degree angle. My fall rate is low 60's when solo and trying and low 70's when flocking. I am 5'9 and 180lbs. Thanks, Simon
SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 May 10, 2004 who told you not to "roll" your arms forward? The bottom line is that you want to present as clean a leading edge as possible while allowing your wing to obtain a taut, fully inflated state.
piisfish 140 #3 May 10, 2004 not with the SFly... air intakes are the same as teh cutaway (low leading edge. You must present a rigid wing leading edge and not roll the arms/shoulders on that suit.scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

That's the sort of stuff I was looking for. What about leg position- feet pointed etc ? Thanks, Simon

Did you think about getting your booties shortened slightly ? Simon
piisfish 140 #7 May 10, 2004 1m82, around 72-75kg speeds in km/h around 90, but still trying different positions and rolls and flips... not shortening my booties, they are perfect when I wear long sleeve and long pants... just a bit too much slack in short/tshirtscissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
