ypelchat 0 #2 September 29, 2003 QuoteLooking to buy one or the other. For those who have used both which are you more happy with? I'm very happy with my Pro-Track. The Neptune is pretty cool too! However, I have a friend who's done many jumps with both a Pro-Track and a Neptune. The jump data he got, was very different on the Pro-Track and the Neptune. I dunno about the level of customer service provided by Alti-2 since I don't have a Neptune, but I do know that the customer service of Larsen & Brusgaard is outstanding. Yves. pilotdave 0 #3 September 29, 2003 If you only want an audible, i don't personally think the neptune has any advantage, the protrack is well proven, and everyone knows about their customer service. If you like the neptune's features, get it. I'm thinking about getting a neptune, but there's no way I'll get it until they get the software finished. ianmdrennan 2 #6 September 29, 2003 I have been very happy with my neptune so far. One HUGE advantage I think it has over any product out there at the moment is the ability to update the firmware. That been said, what are you looking to use it for? If for a visual altimeter then definately, it's very very nice. QuoteI dunno about the level of customer service provided by Alti-2 since I don't have a Neptune, but I do know that the customer service of Larsen & Brusgaard is outstanding. So far my customer service has been great with Alti-2, granted L&B's is good too(I have a pro-ditter), but so far I've been given no reason to think that Alti-2 isn't going to provide the same level. Good luck with your decision. Blue skies IanPerformance Designs Factory Team

Hazarrd 1 #8 September 29, 2003 Quotewhy is it not incuded in the list, what do ppl think about it ect... Because he isn't considering buying it, he said he wants either one or the other. Skytronix is supposedly a "lower end" pro-dytter. Ive never seen one or used one so thats sort of an assumption. im sure it works fine though. .-. Ive never seen one or used one so thats sort of an assumption. im sure it works fine though. The Skytronic a hassle to use, customer service is non-existant, and I went through 3 of them in a matter of a year, with 3-4 months being the average time to get one repaired or replaced. I got to use it a total of 15 times in the year that I messed with one. So now I keep a ProTrack in my helmet and a Neptune on my wrist and I couldn't be happier.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
skydivingdutch 0 #10 September 29, 2003 Good to know, I was eyeing them since they are cheaper than protracks, but i guess there is a reason. You get what you pay for. http://dropman.com

Rdutch 0 #12 September 29, 2003 I have both, and my choice goes with the Neptune. I use mine as an altimiter, but if I started over from scratch I would have bought one for an audible, they are cheaper than the pro-trac and have more features. And they are waterproof, also like it has been mentioned, they are updateable. Look at both of them and make up your mind. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! Remster 30 #14 September 29, 2003 QuoteOne HUGE advantage I think it has over any product out there at the moment is the ability to update the firmware. Its been a great feature since the damm SW needs updating every week it seems! Looks like it WILL be a good product, but right now, I'd wait. betzilla 56 #15 September 29, 2003 We carry both the ProTrack and the Neptune in my store. The Neptune was a little slow to take off, but now is picking up momentum. Customer service is equally awesome with each company, so that's not been a deciding factor. I do think the price difference will continue to make the Neptune more attractive than the ProTrack. Not to mention that it's easier to navigate the set-up...
feagajk 0 #16 September 29, 2003 I appreciate all the input. Think im gonna give the Neptune a shot. When V2 comes out it is just a software update, not a firmware upgrade right?
ianmdrennan 2 #17 September 29, 2003 You will be able to update the Neptune if you have access to a Laptop with an IR port (or an IR port for your computer). The process is simple and takes less than 5 min. Enjoy your new baby. Blue skies IanPerformance Designs Factory Team
