greeny 0 #1 March 1, 2004 What suits do people consider the best at the moment? What are the best glide ratios being achived? What are the lowest vertical speeds? I'm currently flying a BM classic which I love I'm just looking for options as I'd like to replace it.

VectorBoy 0 #3 March 1, 2004 First you start out with the best human. Tall, long legs, light weight yet muscular. This would be the airframe. Then you add flying capability, experience even from other skydiving disciplines, smoothness body awarness, etc. This would constitute the controls and how well they are rigged from the brain to the control surface. Then you pick the suit. Its the skin for the aircraft. In this case its fabric zip up. And how well it is tailored to the flyer. All of the suits are good quality. Some suited better for some purposes than the others. The taller, stronger wing-suit flyer will get more out of a suit with less surface area. A more experienced skydiver will get better results than a less body aware newer wingsuiter. A low upper body strength jumper will absolutely hose themselves if they can't handle the strain on their arms that the S3 will provide. Or if they can't maintain the overall optimum body position due to fatigue. They will be fighting the suit the whole way adding to the fatigue, staying way behind on the learning and fun curve. It really just depends on all of the above factors not just the suit. The best way to get the best suit for you is really to go to a boogie where BMI and demo suits are available or request a BMI to come to your DZ with various suits in your approximate sizes. But to answer your question if all other things are equal the S3 has more glide. Does it have more for your experience and body type.... I really can't answer that. notsane 0 #4 March 1, 2004 It also depends on what you want to do with it. If you expect to do BirdMan jumps only ocassionally then the GTi is probably your best choice among BirdMan suits. If you're jumping BirdMan all the time I'd go for the S3 ,it's the highest performance but needs extra experience. If you're concerned about the leap in performance between your Classic and the S3 you could try to find a demo GTi or SkyFlyer to jump first.
