turtlespeed 226 #1 September 25, 2003 I am trying, without alot of luck, to find in small quantities, materials that would be good for a "Big Boy" jumpsuit.(I'm attempting to make my own) I was wondering what fabric or material to use/are available, the type of thread, and the stitch patterns to use. I already posted about this in Talkback, buI imagine that some people don't go there. Also, I have started on a pair of FF Pants. Canvas is the material, no poly in ity though, and I am using a very strong upholstry thread(synthetic) and a tripple zig-zag stitch. Any opinions would be welcome, if you have the time. Thanks, ClintI'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
fundgh 0 #2 September 26, 2003 THere are a number of threads regarding this topic.... I made my own jumpsuit and I used a poly-cotton blend that is known for making trousers. It is nice and I find that it works well. I used straight stitches with regular thread. I double stitched wherever I could. It is holding up well at 70 jumps or so, but I don't think it will last forever. But I don't see the end anywhere near, and I will have better knowledge for building the next suit. The cuffs, colar, zipper (all of the complicated parts) are holding well. If you can get your hands on a serging machine that would be nice to keep the fabric from fraying. Other wise, there is a adhesive product that you can use on the cut material that helps keep it from fraying. Let me know how it turns out!...FUN FOR ALL! AggieDave 6 #4 September 26, 2003 Are you going to add cuffs with velcro to the bottom of the pants?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
skycat 0 #5 September 26, 2003 Well we just made Derek a pair of BASE pants out of a poly/rayon blend. They turned out really nice, the texture of the pants is smoother and seems stronger than the poly/cotton blend ones we have made in the past. Only downside for skydiving is the color, we could only get it in a green/brown color. (This is a upside for BASE). We also on use E-thread, but with Derek being a rigger we have tons of it on hand.Fly it like you stole it!
fundgh 0 #6 September 26, 2003 Where can we get E-thread? Para-gear?...FUN FOR ALL!

turtlespeed 226 #8 September 27, 2003 Well, I'm done for now. I am sure i will have to do so modifications, but they fit. I am sure they will slow me down. I should have made the waist a little higher. But all in al for a first try and rushing to be able to use them tomorrow, i can't complain. I am thankful for the input. Dave...please don't laugh toohard when you see them.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
