weegegirl 2 #1 September 24, 2003 My friend has an older version of the Mindwarp and loves it. I've jumped his helmet a lot and it fits great, looks great, etc. I told him I was going to buy the same one and he said that they don't make the old model anymore and he doesn't like the new one. What should I do?!?!?! Does anyone jump the new mindwarp? What are the differences?
AggieDave 6 #2 September 24, 2003 There's more then 2 versions. There's the OLD version, the one with the velcro tightening strap, there's the millinum verison (what most folks call the "old" version), last year's version (the one that looks like a penis) and this year's version (which is very nice and has similar lines to the new-old version). Did that make sense...hell that about comfuses myself. Are you thinking about the old style with the audible pocket on the outside and the Pimp-Daddy cloth? if so, then you'll probably like the new version, it looks similar, with similar lines, but the audible goes inside now and there's no pimp daddy cloth.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." weegegirl 2 #4 September 24, 2003 "the old style with the audible pocket on the outside and the Pimp-Daddy cloth" THAT'S THE ONE! why is there no pimp-daddy cloth anymore? that is so comfortable. do they at least fit the same? it's the only helmet i've tried that was super comfy and fit great and looked good all at once. AggieDave 6 #5 September 24, 2003 Don't know why they don't offer it anymore, but the new one is comfy, that's for sure.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
kaerock 1 #6 September 24, 2003 I have the older mindwarp with the external audible mounts. I lost my pro-track this weekend in freefall. Internal audible mounts are probably way better. People also say that you can hear the internally mounted ones better anyhow. Is there a gear store around that'll allow you to try on some helmets? -R You be the king and I'll overthrow your government. --KRS-ONE
weegegirl 2 #7 September 25, 2003 Yeah, we have a great gear store, but they usually only have large and xlarge freefly helmets in the store. I have been borrowing them from my friends to see which model I like best. I had a velocity, but I bought it used and it was always too big and drove me nuts. Then I went through an idiot faze where I didn't where any helmet at all. DUH! When my friend broke his neck last month in a freefly collision, I decided I was being a moron and needed to get a bucket pronto.
Tonto 1 #8 September 26, 2003 The "Pimp daddy" one looks better. The "Penis" one feels better. Since I wear it and don't have to look at it - I don't mind too much. tIt's the year of the Pig.

rogue108 0 #10 September 27, 2003 I liked the Pimp Daddy cloth too, but according to Bonehead the discontinued it because they were having problems with durability. The 2001 models the one with the Pimp Daddy cloth and external mount and the 2002 with an internal mount bulge on the right side fit simiarly for me. I wore an XL in both sizes. The 2003 Mindwarp with audible mounts on both sides which has two minor flat spots on either side for audibles I found fit differently. In the 2003 model I wear a L for a tight comfy fit and can fit in an XL but its much looser than 2001 or 2002 models, that I have been wearing. They all fit my head well and with a little baking the fit even better, but that is just my noggin. Definitely try one on before buying. As a matter of fact, I have to buy a new one since I lost my helmet and Pro-Dytter last week Hope this helps

AggieDave 6 #12 September 28, 2003 It depends on the type of closure it has. I've seen atleast 3 variants. The old one with the slot in the middle with the velcro. That is very unsecure. The intermediate version with slots on the ends with flaps, a strap and a double d-ring friction adapter, which is better. The third is the newest version on the older helmet, same as the 2nd version, but with a plastic quick lock type closure, which is the most secure.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #14 September 28, 2003 If you're worried about it, mostly likely you could talk to a rigger friend about making and putting a differnt pouch on it. They're not hard to make, but they can take a reasonable amount of time to make. I'd also e-mail Bonehead, they might be able to mod your helmet faster and cheaper.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." diablopilot 2 #16 September 29, 2003 You could zip tie the clip that came with your Pro-Dytter/Track to the helmet. Good tip is to put a rubber band or two on the clip before you zip tie it, as it will hold the unit mo' betta....---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.
