I'm only getting 8 KB/sec on this download and I'm on a fairly fast link here. What are the other four getting? Le Roy, I thought you were on a T1?

the server is updated...please test it out to see what you max dl speeds are... I have it now set to 80kbs max.. I am going through a testing phase to see the optimal number of users verses the dl speed..

please post your results

Those line twists on the second canopy (I assume reserve) had me on the edge of my seat. Can people explain what was going on there? Like, why did he take so long to twist out of them? And it looked like he was dealing with some sort of snarled-up slider and toggles/lines thing as he untwisted around. Through it all I was biting my nails as the seconds passed and passed... :o

And working backwards, it looks like he was OK under the first canopy and then it went all squirrelly - did I see this right? Did he twist it up through bad inputs?

Glad to see the reserve looked like it was flying slow and stable while it was all twisted up. Different from my last line-twist episode, where I was saying "If this doesn't get bigger and squarer in two more seconds, I'm chopping." (Also different because he probably didn't have any more handles. :)

It's entirely possible to hose yourself under a line-twisted, but straight-flying main. We have had several instances here at Raeford where the main went to shit during the "kick out of the line-twist" stage. I think in all three cases, both people went to kick out of the twists and got their connector links uneven in the process, thus exacerbating the situation. If you are flying straight, either (a) pull your LQRS and kick out with all the range of your legs; or (b) unzip VERY quickly and then get your hands up there and get the twists below the links and onto the risers, that way you can unspin yourself with your hands. Either way, you need to have emergency procedures down to a science when you are jumping small eliptical canopies. I have chopped twice under a 75, LeRoy has chopped his 105, and MonkeyLip has chopped twice under his 120. Oh yeah, Jari chopped his 79 here as well. The bottom line here is that you never know what's going to happen, even with perfect body position and perfect packing, so get in a hanging harness and have your buddies spin your ass around while you frantically unzip. It's definitely the smart thing to do.

Peace,
Chuckie

You, in your typical LeRoy fashion, were leaning back too far, flared too late, and caught your foot as you were ass-surfing. I saw the whole thing and couldn't believe you were injured. Looked like another ass-surf to me; nothing spectacular. At any rate, I hope you heal quickly. In the meantime, stop being such a post whore...lol

Finally saw the vid. Could have done without the embossing, but cool footage otherwise. You can really see how big the effect of little movements are on wingsuits with Jake in that GTi. There was a point where he's flying along with his hands on the wingtips. When he let go, that little tiny hand movement gave him lift, but caused drag (horizontally). Movement of only a few inches caused him to fly up and back. Looked kinda cool actually.

The video may be out of sequence, but it looks like Jake was flying better and better through out the video. It was arms sloped back and knees bent at first, and then he started flying really extended (but still arched a wee bit). Fun stuff.

Scott, watch the prop in front of you and the stabilizer behind you. In all due respect, I'm not trying to command you or anything, but a stabilizer has been taken out when someone was pulling the exact same stuff. It takes just one time of not sliding that exit out right to get a stabilizer in the back of your head.

You can still get above the Otter without flying out the door like that. Exit wings closed, and then fly hard after about a quarter second. Slide to the center of the aircraft and you'll catch the blast from BOTH props, which, on a normal speed jump run, will get you about ten to fifteen feet, and even higher on a faster jump run (give a little more time to clear the stabilizer/get under the plane on a faster jump run).

Riding the blast of one prop will usually get you just high enough to nail the stabilizer. If you aren't more than maybe eight feet away from the fuselage when over the prop, you really run the risk of taking out a plane, a pilot, and yourself.

Don't mean to be a jerk, but whenever the safety of others or the aircraft is involved, I feel compelled to speak up.

You're preaching to the choir but your concern is appreciated. Don't think I haven't thought the possibilities through beforehand. That was a series of planned dives between myself and the pilot. I have no inclination to become aquainted with a horizontal stabalizer any time soon. ;)
