ifics 0 #1 September 22, 2003 Searched for this answer with no avail. The purpose of a wing suit is for better flying control? Or uh... what exactly? I have seen base jump video's where they use them and they are able to fly waaaay farther out so I understand the basic idea but why would you want to use one? Also why does it take so much experience to be able to fly one? I am a confused nub again damn it.
kevin922 0 #2 September 22, 2003 the largest difference is the fall rate. you can fall in the 40's and 50's vertically as opposed to 120mph without a wingsuit. this also allows you to cover more distance horizontally. i'm surprised you weren't able to find that in these forums :)
ifics 0 #3 September 22, 2003 I didn't read a TON on it because I didn't have the time so I am sure I overlooked some of that info. I saw on the base jumping video's how much more distance you can cover horizontally with suits, pretty amazing! All stuff I pretty much could of figured out by myself, hence my noobship
skybytch 273 #4 September 22, 2003 Why do I want to fly my wingsuit? Because it's the closest thing to pure flight I've ever experienced. It's fun to fly alone or with friends. And all the cool kids are doing it. QuoteAlso why does it take so much experience to be able to fly one? Deployment time can be a bit hairy. Having a couple hundred jumps under your belt first gives you a better chance of having good body position at pull time, and good body position at pull time can be the difference between a good opening and nasty spinning line twists.
