nwdyver 0 #1 September 5, 2003 Greetings, Several years ago I purchased the GTI model wingsuit. I am now interested in the Skyflyer 3. What suggestions can you give me?? Example: How much harder ( or easier ) to fly is the S3. What can I expect when I jump the S3. etc. As much info that you can give me will be appreciated. kevin922 0 #2 September 5, 2003 s3 is actually not that hard to "fly" safely. If you want to fly the S3 for what it's worth, it is a lot more strenuous on your arms. The two suits definately do feel like they fly differently.. when I first got my S3 I liked my GTI better until I really learned how to fly it. (i'm still learning stuff as it is).. you'll love it! leroydb 0 #3 September 5, 2003 Being one that went from 50-70ish jumps on a Classic, then went straight to a SF3. I can definaltey say its easy fly. Just be heads Up and take it easy the first few jumps.... relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaax its all goodLeroy ..I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw my bath toys were a toaster and a radio... SkymonkeyONE 4 #4 September 5, 2003 The S3 takes a lot more strength to fly efficiently, but it's definitely not hard to fly if you have the basic skil set. It's my experience that GTi to S3 is a safe transition. You can definitely "grow into" an S3 once you master the basic skills in one of the two "smaller" suits, you definitely possess the abaility to fly the S3. It then becomes a matter of confidence, as the S3 is a BIG suit. Chuck
ManBird 0 #5 September 6, 2003 The S3 is more sensitive to body position, but it's not much of an issue if you've dialed that in on the GTi. Flat spins are more likely. Like what has been said here, if you fly it properly, it is very strenuous. If you weaken your arms too much, you will have difficulty getting a good pilot chute throw. One other word of advice: PRACTICE PULLS!!!! PRACTICE PULLS!!!! PRACTICE PULLS!!!! PRACTICE PULLS!!!! PRACTICE PULLS!!!! PRACTICE PULLS!!!! PRACTICE PULLS!!!! PRACTICE PULLS!!!! PRACTICE PULLS!!!! PRACTICE PULLS!!!! PRACTICE PULLS!!!! PRACTICE PULLS!!!! PRACTICE PULLS!!!! There's a lot of material in the way and you will most likely get a fistful of wing when you go to deploy, unless you practice pull your ass off. Er... I actually didn't grab wing for awhile, and a big part of it was doing hundreds of practice pulls on the ground, and about six in the air. Other than that, you'll love it. The difference between the two is that of a glider and a jet fighter. Have fun and be safe."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
VectorBoy 0 #6 September 7, 2003 I got the S3 after 20 classic jumps. It was not harder to fly and i did not hate it compared to my classic. But I didn't get any better numbers on the 3 than the old classic for a while. Long flights wear you out sooner on the 3 than you would be on a classic until you build those muscles up. If you are a good flyer on the smaller winged suits chances are you will maintain good habits on the 3.
