Deuce 1 #1 August 24, 2003 Did the GTi today, very nice, very smooth. I got briefed by our two birdmen, hooked up my rig, went over the dive with the handle checks, practiced emergency procedures, got on the plane and got out second, CRW style, with Paul. The exit is kinda like a tandem camera suit exit. Everything is in until you pick up speed, then ease everything out. Then everything is totally birdman. Vertical speed seems to stop, and horizontal speed is the name of the game. Completely different from anything else. To be able to see traffic on the ground, and to be travelling WITH it, was extraordinary. Turned left off the plane, downwind and then a short base. When I landed, one of the tandem masters complimented Paul for getting so far out, but it turns out it was me. My horizontal speed was amazing, my vertical speed was about 80-85 the whole flight, but maybe that's the exchange for so much forward speed. Getting out way after the tandems, and opening after them was pretty weird too. The suit is still hooked up to my rig, and I'll do nothing but Birdman tomorrow until MadJohn collects it. Along with his case of beer. Roasted Paul on the first jump, so he got his shit together and waxed me on number two. We agreed to a truce and exited right on top of each other on number three, I dropped in on his right hand and docked for three seconds. We made the turn to downwind and I turned inside his radius and came up on his left hand and docked. F*cking rock-solid. Once we were stable we both pushed out with our feet and were freaking hauling ass, straight-ahead, rock freaking solid. We were both laughing like banshees. At about 8 grand we undocked and he showed me his experience cause he can hit his position and I have to still ease into mine. But then I had his speed and we separated for pull. Yeah. I'm hooked. So different from a camera suit. But I think a camera suit is a good experience, but camera suits are mostly just vertical brakes, and are inherently pretty unstable. Well, giant wing rigs like mine. The Wingsuit is designed to be stable, and man, you can tell. Thank you Jari. That is some really good shit you got there. JP
 Rdutch 0 #7 August 25, 2003 Welcome to the Flock, definitely camera suits and bird man suits are different, but with camera exp its alittle easier. Have fun, oh yeah as far as a camera suit goe's, I think the 9 ft bridle that most birdmen jump will also benifit the Videots that jump camera suits, the burble on them can be nasty, I will definitely post my results on the Video forum soon. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
 Deuce 1 #8 August 25, 2003 Thanks Ray, both my Wings rigs have the big pilot chute and the 9 foot bridle. I think Henri must be able to see the future! One thing I didn't post about is how fun the openings are. It seems almost exactly like doing a crew exit out of the KingAir. Subterminal vertically, but with great forward speed. There's nothing about it that wasn't fun. I had lots of folks say the reason they don't want to try it is because of the claustriphobia of the restrictiveness of the suit, but it's nothing compared to a thick wetsuit and hood for SCUBA. I'm really looking forward to jumping with more, talented people.
