TomAiello 26 #3 July 10, 2003 I've had some correspondence with them about it. If you want, drop me an email and I'll forward you the stuff I've got. They seem pretty heads up, and delivery time is unbelievable (three days). They're at the same DZ as Loic (I'm sure we've all seen his "buzzing the cliff six feet away" video by now), and it's his style of suit, so I'd bet he's working with them, as far as design and testing.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
ManBird 0 #4 July 10, 2003 You mean http://www.matterclothing.com? Aiding and abetting, eh? I'd be interested in flying one, but I don't think I'd fly it enough to lay down $960 for a suit that I can't even get customized. If that much money is going to a wingsuit, it'd be to whatever comes next from the BirdMan camp."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

It seems to be quite improved over the Crossbow, namely in materials used. I'm still thinking, especially from what I saw in the mountain swoop video, the whole single wing design is more float than flight... relaying more on surface area to stay aloft than its aerodynamics (though the MTR-1 has incorporated more aerodynamic features into the design than the Crossbow ever had). Hmmm... wingsuits, then tracking pants and BASE pants. Well, I guess competition breeds progress, but still... hmmm. Do these really even do anything? http://www.matterclothing.com/basepants.htm"¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
TomAiello 26 #6 July 10, 2003 QuoteDo these really even do anything?...basepants Heck yeah they do. I've wanted a pair of those for a long time (Matter is sold out until their next production run in September). Tough pants with good pockets are a must--and adding the tracking vents makes it even better.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
pbla4024 0 #7 July 10, 2003 I disagree. As I know, MTR has nothing to do with Jen Loic and Stephan Zunino. They prepare their own wingsuit called S-flyer. It is in preproduction state. Ps.: DZ is not the same, Steph is located in LeLuc, French Riviera. Fido

I have a pair of the Birdman BASE Pantz and besides looking most sexy, even in the bar the damn things worked really good for me. I was able to get enough drag that I was actually able to hold a head down on my own. While that may not seem impressive to some, it was to me since I don't FF and have never been able to hold a HD on my own. As for the tracking part I would say that it was about like tracking with a bootie suit on. I felt good drive and control when I tracked off. So yes I think they work, the ones made by Birdman that is."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
crimpfiend 0 #9 July 10, 2003 To clarify: Matter is NOT associated with Loic & Steph. Loic & Steph's company is called FlyYourBody and their website (in progress) is: www.flyyourbody.com. If you cannot reach Loic at the info@flyyourbody.com address, you may also try him at: paraventure@wanadoo.fr, which is another business of his. From what I understand, Matter's suits and production have not quite taken off yet - they're selling Loic's "design" for about 1000 Euro and Loic's redesigned suit (the "S-Fly") is selling for 750 Euro. Loic runs the DZ on La Reunion most of the year and is in Gap for the summer, training for the World Meet.
ManBird 0 #10 July 10, 2003 Oops! I just found that out last night. Jean-Phillipe Riccordeau (sp?) designed the MTR-1. My apologies."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
