PhreeZone 20 #1 September 18, 2003 Wondering what other Tandem Instructors are liking in the rigs that they jump. I've only had limited canopy choice so far so I'm also looking for why you like your favorite canopy over some other choices.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

diablopilot 2 #3 September 18, 2003 I really like the Icarus/Eclipse Tandem 365 canopies. Good performance, powerful flare, light(er) toggle pressure, nice openings, no pesky braake stows. Here are the other tandem canopies I've jumped in the order of preference. Icarus/Eclipse 365 Icarus/Eclipse 330 Icarus/Eclipse 400 Sigma 370 Sigma 385 Cobalt---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. slotperfect 7 #4 September 18, 2003 I have jumped: PD421 EZ384 EZ425 Sigma 370 Sigma 395 Master 425 SET 400 My preference out of those for packing, opening, flight characteristics, toggle pressure, and landings is the Sigma 370.Arrive Safely John
AggieDave 6 #5 September 19, 2003 Note, I've only jumped an EZ-384 and a Sigma-370, but with that limited experience I've found its hard to beat how the Sigmas jump, how they open and how they fly. 1000ft+ on every opening and the flare if very very powerful. Very nice. Better then some sport canopies I've jumped, that's for damned sure.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." nightjumps 1 #6 September 19, 2003 I loves me Icarus 365. It makes the other Tandem Instructors in the area want one. Low toggle pressure on landing.
riggerrob 643 #7 September 19, 2003 Interesting that you did not mention any Strong Canopies in your poll. I have jumped: High-Lifter PD-360 PD-421 Galaxy 400 EZ 384 Racer 400 Racer 500 Strong 425 Strong 520 SET 400 plus a few canopies sewn by an obscure Russian For the last few years I have only jumped SET 400s. mfrese 0 #8 September 19, 2003 In order of preference: Icarus 330 Icarus 365 EZ-384 EZ-421 Must say, the Icarus canopies are almost like jumping my sport rig: they fly well, flare great, and have very light toggle pressure. The PD EZ-421 seems like you have to flare it Friday to land on Saturday, and the toggle pressure would wear me out in about 4 jumps. I've actually reached the point where I've loaded a 330 at about 1.4, and was amazed to find I could stand it up in no wind. Pretty cool.
