Superbird 0 #1 January 12, 2003 Happy to see that so many skydivers get their eyes up for Skyflying. For me it is the best thing I can do with my clothes on. So how to deploy and with what kind of canopy? This works good for me: Take a deep breath, focus, smile, get your knees together (all the way),sit up, look at the horizon, pick up some speed, both arms inn, pull and get your arms out, smile and relax, keep your legs together until you are hanging safe under the canopy. Just have to say this: never pull in full speed forward in skydiving because that is relative a headdown opening. Martin Rosen can tell you all more about that. What wing to use? I jump a Spectre 120 because I like soft openings on heading. Know the canopy you are jumping and be aware that it is easy to get linetwist if your opening technique is bad. I recommend a big canopy until you figure out how to open. If you know your canopy and how to open, linetwists are not common. Have fun and remember: don't fight it, ride it!
