D22369 0 #1 September 15, 2003 for all the riggers in the house; what would happen if the cats eye on the brake lines were to be moved down towards the toggle an inch or more? would the opening characteristics change? I know the initial foreward speed would be higher. RoyThey say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
diablopilot 2 #2 September 15, 2003 The foward speed after opening would be higher, but more than likely the opening would be slower. Eclipse/Icarus tandem canopies are packed with no brake stows (full flight) this helps to slow the openings on thes monster canopies. One of the problems with having less/no brake stow is it can increase the tendancy for asymetrical inflation. This sucks when one side of the canopy inflates and attempts to fly around the other side of the canopy. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
MrHixxx 0 #3 September 15, 2003 I have a friend with an FX that was crushing him on opening. Simon had him move the cateye's up 6 inches (more brakes) and they have been soft ever since... So, it is a little contingent on canopy design... -Hixxxdeath,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
rigging65 0 #4 September 15, 2003 Go and jump the canopy without the breaks stowed. Just do it up high... That'll at least give you an idea of what will change...of course it will be more extreme than simply moving the eye by an inch. Learning is fun! phoenixlpr 0 #6 September 16, 2003 Ive heard a story about the opposite thing. Canopy with incorrect stow. The result was constant stall in opening, solution: open breaks. :)

rigging65 0 #8 September 16, 2003 Quoteheheh, I dont know if I need that much fun It's not really that big of a deal. The openings are (generally) just a whole lot slower...one of those things where you're sitting there, looking up, saying "open, open, open"....
