bclark 0 #1 September 9, 2003 I am going to work at a DZ this winter that has some Sigmas and some Eclipse Tandems. I have a Vector / Sigma rating and a Strong rating. I plan to cross train to Eclipse while at this new DZ, but can find virtually no information about the rigs on the net. I have searched for Eclipse Tandem on search engines and on DZ.com and understand that Stunts is no longer in existence, and is now owned by some entity at Skydive Monterey Bay. I have heard that the Eclipse tandem is basically a copy of the Vector 2 tandem, with the same handle configuration and the drogue out the ass situation. Any tandem pilots out there who can tell me a little about the Eclipse system? I know that they typically use Icarus mains, what type of reserves are they using? What, if any differences do they have from Vectors? And if they are carbon copies, why would one have to cross train from Vector to Eclipse?
AggieDave 6 #2 September 9, 2003 PM Hooknswoop, if I remember correctly he has a TM rating with an Eclipse (as well as quite a few other tandem manufactures).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
hookitt 1 #3 September 9, 2003 Besides cosmetics, there are very few differences between a Vector Tandem and the Eclipse Tandem. It was very much a copy. The Reserve is a Raven 375 Stunts was sold to Jesse Rodriguez owner of Skydive Monterey Bay and Bill Dause, owner or the parachute center near Lodi. It's unfortunate that the company is pretty much in Mothballs. The Eclipse series had some very good potential. To answer the Certification question I suggest calling Skydive Monterey Bay and ask for Jesse. 1-888-bay-jumpMy grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... nightjumps 1 #4 September 9, 2003 I use an Eclipse Tandem rig. Icarus 365. Sweet. Its a Vector II and if you're Vector rated, you won't have any problems transitioning. Jesse @ SMB is the man to call.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #5 September 9, 2003 We have two here as well; both with Icarus mains (which fly great). The rig flies just like a Vector II tandem, but is a bit more comfortable on me over the shoulders.
nightjumps 1 #6 September 9, 2003 Hey Chuck, Haven't talked to you since Rantoul. I've been having some problems with the Eclipse Student Harness Leg Straps rolling up on the students and have been thinking about getting one of Vector's newer Student Harnesses. Your thoughts? SkymonkeyONE 4 #7 September 10, 2003 There is not a better, more comfortable passenger harness than the Sigma. One must take customer comfort as a high priority, right?? PM on the way. Chuck
