mww115 0 #1 September 6, 2003 Has anyone ever heard of a Boggie Reserve? Who makes them? When were they stopped? And most importantly, why?Until you've stepped out at 800' in the dead of night with 100 lbs of chute and equipment.. you haven't jumped. AIRBORNE ! riggerrob 643 #2 September 6, 2003 Bogie reserves were manufactured by APS and FTS. They were certified under TSO C23C back in the mid 1980s. Why they fell out of production is not clear. Perhaps there were too many companies producing similar reserves. There was also the perception that Bogies were "low speed" canopies because they have fewer reinforcing tapes. I doubt if the reinforcing tapes become important until you start loading canopies more than one pound per square foot, never a wise move with that generation of F-111 canopies. I have repacked a bunch of FTS reserves, but none have been "deployed in anger." I have never heard of anyone having any problems with them. Bogies are okay reserves, just don't plan on loading them more than one pound per square foot.
