Belly bands

Recommended Posts

How many people have one of these on their rig or even know what I'm talking about?

In talking around the DZ it seems that one major gear manufactor will still put this on new rigs and its to improve the comfort in the air and under canopy by a lot.

One of my friends has this and its enough that I'd probally switch rigs and get it on mine if I'd ever switch to a new rig.

Plus it's to fly a whole lot better if you arte the belly person in a hybrid since you are not being tilted near as head low as you are with chest strap grips.

I seem to recall I've met that dude a few years back...if I recall it was a Vector 3 and he's quite short, so was having trouble finding a rig that fit him.

I dunno...a belly band doesn't seem necessary if your rig fits you well though, and my wings seems pretty tight. but then again, I'm an avg sized dude.

Yep, his rig is a V3 and I'm amazed by how well that sucker stays in place even through some of the wacked out stuff we've done. He's got a V306 and he was telling me that at Winter Expo RWS was commenting that a better alternitive to haveing cut in laterals and every other trick that some manufactors are doing is to do the belly band. The rig fits better and you havbe the added plus of the harness can not distort so your handles always remain in the same spot.

What got me thinking about this over the weekend we did some hybrids with diffrent belly bands on the RW'ers and every one of them mentioned how much smoother it was for them to fly their body. We are looking at having them fly with belts on for all our hybrids. This frees us up to do a lot more creative flying since each person can have their own hanger and they can fly independently.
