br0k3n 0 #1 May 2, 2005 Has anyone tried the following exit, and if so can you offer some advice… Basically the idea is that one person exits on their back with the other person standing on there chest, with the result of person 1 being surfed….. I tried this about 6 times on the weekend, and reckon it is possible, although we didn’t manage to pull it off. The way we attempted it was to have flyer1 (exiting a twin otter) with his back to the tail half out of the door, flyer2 would have his right foot under flyer1 chest strap and holding onto their harness at the shoulders, and then exit. Flyer1 would go into a back track with flyer1 leaning forward with arms out as if taking a head up freefly exit. We found that on most exits that we would turn 180 on exit, and that flyer2 (me) found it almost impossible to keep left leg in position, whilst right leg was held in by chest strap, resulting in left leg trailing behind, and making us unstable….. So has anyone pulled this exit off? And how would you start to train for it? -Oli----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
bob.dino 1 #2 May 2, 2005 Might it not be easier to have flyer1's back towards the nose of the aircraft, putting their back square into the relative wind on exit?

We tried that to start with, but found it very unstable, so we switched to exiting towards tail, as you would on a sky board...----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
Chapsta 0 #4 May 2, 2005 We've done that... Have the guy being surfed put his back to the relative and exit more like a back-track poisition. He can hold the surfers foot Surfer just sort of sit fly's the exit... Good luck! chapsCarpe diem

78RATS 0 #7 May 3, 2005 That was our team exit at Nationals last year. Flyer one lays in door, head into the relative wind. Flyer two places front foot under chest strap. On exit, flyer two place back foot on crotch/inner thigh and flyer one holds it there momentarily. Important for flyer two to get "on the top" of flyer one. Best accomplished by pressing hard on cheststrap foot. Flyer one counters the pressure by exaggerating the back track (not going head low) Takes some practice, but definitely want to launch it into the prop. doublespock 0 #8 May 5, 2005 That exit does sound really cool. I think Im gonna try it this weekend with my team mate. sickamore style!!
br0k3n 0 #9 May 9, 2005 tried again at the weekend, with some degree of success. As suggested launched into the prop. However this time as we exited, flyer1 went into a back track position with his legs together holding my back foot in place between his legs. This help stop my back foot floating of the door so much..----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
Trent 0 #10 May 9, 2005 Yeah, we use it on some routines... we exit with my belly into the wind and Steve head into the wind, foot just barely in my cheststrap. We then roll it forward (I drive forward and head down, then continue to my back). This puts steve on my chest, and me on my back. He usually has his foot completely out by the time we're 1/4 through the roll. The backflyer has to really push down on his heels to give the surfer something to stand on... otherwise it's like someone standing on a dead cockroach. Have fun!Oh, hello again!
