WrongWay 0 #1 December 23, 2004 I saw on the recent Atmonauti article a picture of a dude doing Atmo in the tunnel......how the hell is this possible? Think about it....because of the vertical angle of the tunnel and the inability to move horizontally (not for a great distance of course), for the wind to hit you in the right place to make it "Atmonauti", then wouldn't you just be flying head down? I dunno, maybe I'm wrong, but it just looks like freefly to me. Can somebody explain to me how in the tunnel it's not just freefly with quirky body position? WrongWay 0 #5 December 23, 2004 QuotePic? Link? It's on the front page of dz.com. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/safety/detail_page.cgi?ID=559 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/safety/jump.cgi?ID=559&view=Photo5 In this pic he's doing it on his side, but according to all the diagrams on their website, the relative wind should be hitting the front/top of your body like your shoulders, thighs and such (unless you're on your back, but you get the point), not your side. I swear, in the tunnel it's just freefly. (NOTE: I don't know shite about Atmonauti, only tried it once for a full dive, and done it a couple times in flocking dives, but that's about it. I'm just tryin to figure out what the deal is with this, not dissing Atmo, so CHILL!! ) Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails. deaffreeflyer 0 #7 December 23, 2004 That's rather odd position to try atmo in the tunnel! I know it impossible to do tracking and atmonauti in tunnel but he managed to do it... How?! Zenister 0 #9 December 23, 2004 i'd guess he's circling from that body position... Quote it's not just freefly with quirky body position it is... but everyone seems to want a new cool name for it.....____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. apoil 0 #10 December 24, 2004 Quotei'd guess he's circling from that body position... That's a picture of Marco himself from team Frick Atmonauti. His Teammate GI is watching from the benches. Realize that a picture is just a snapshot in time. I watched him doing this "atmonauti" in the tunnel and he was mostly getting up high, carving down, and then climbing back up. In this picture he may be climbing back up. It's a very dynamic mode of flight, so it's not 100% "doing" atmonauti in the tunnel, as much as exploring what the atmonauti body positions can do while expertly managing not to bounce off the walls :). Vertifly 0 #11 December 24, 2004 This isn't atmonauti. If it were, he'd be moving forward or carving in the tunnel. Don't believe everything you read. Definitely an interesting position, and who know what he looked like before or after, but not the least bit of forward movement happening here.
