78RATS 0 #1 November 18, 2004 what is the preferred method of launching a rodeo? They are fun to freefly with but I've noticed some issues getting them launched and flying stable. Levin 0 #2 November 18, 2004 i have a couple of obvious ideas but nothing you haven't already thought of i'm sure. you may want to ask this in the wingsuit forum. i see alot of pictures of people rodeoing bird people. i doubt seriously they put those dives together after exiting the plane. VectorBoy 0 #3 November 18, 2004 What I like to do if its out of an otter is both stand outside facing forward the rider has left hand on the birds riser cover area of the rig harness, right hand on the bar ( which transitions to a matching harness hold on the step-off). The bird has right hand on the bar. Bodies are as close together as possible. On the count both just step off into a stand. They both turn from vertical to horizontal transitioning off the hill almost automatically. During this time the rider has the option to stay close and low in a tuck, sit up and enjoy the view, get brave and attempt a stand-surfer like ( hard to do behind someones burble ). On tailgates its even easier as the rider gets to use both hands to hold the birds harness. You want to have the rider stand as close to the edge as possible bodies again as close as possible. On the count both need to jump up and back far enough to maintain a slight head forward stance as you don't want to be pulled back into a back flip with the momentum from the jump to the rear. And you don't want to smash your face on the threshold of the tailgate form too much forward stance. For face to face freefly rodeos out of otters its hard for the front (rear facing) pair unless they are skilled at getting their legs up on exit (as in whatever they call that front position in RW) Oh-oh I hope I can get away with a comment like that in this forum. * the word horse maybe substituted for the word bird if there are no birds in your rodeos. We have had more success than not using these methods. We even had success using both methods for double rodeos. I hope this helps but I bet you guys are up to speed on the above methods already and are looking for something else. Glen
78RATS 0 #4 November 19, 2004 Thanx - I'm not trying to do it myself. Wanna Freefly with it. I'll pass on your suggestions. Rat for Life - Fly till I die When them stupid ass bitches ask why
Brains 2 #5 November 19, 2004 Hey Robert, Brandy(packer) and i launched some out of the otter where we both floated like someone else already suggested. We also launched two rodeos with one set floating and one diving out. To dive, you have to push out real hard and work like hell not to roll it over. Make sure you get some pics, or take CG along to snap some digi's. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.

78RATS 0 #7 November 23, 2004 Hey Laurie - can you explain what to do in your slot. It seems to be the slot people struggle with. Thx. Rat for Life - Fly till I die When them stupid ass bitches ask why
skydiva1998 0 #8 November 24, 2004 The only thing I can say is "good balance and strong legs". It is much like riding a horse bareback (hence rodeo, eh?), you hang on with your legs. Out the door you just have to have good balance and be in a position ready to wrap your legs around the "pony" just as you go out the door. For better balance out the door, you may want to hug your upper body close to the "pony's" rig until you get your legs situated, then you can sit up. Balance is the key to make it a successful jump. This explanation may be a little goofy, but it's the only way I know how to describe it. Hope it helps! Ciao, Laurie
78RATS 0 #9 November 24, 2004 Oh. Wrap your legs around the PONY. Now I see. Rat for Life - Fly till I die When them stupid ass bitches ask why
VectorBoy 0 #10 November 25, 2004 If the pony is in a wingsuit you may not want to wrap your legs down and around them as this acts like a speed brake and kills your forward flight ( more ) for some the whole reason for doing a bird-man rodeo. In the case of riding a wingsuiter it may be best to just place your legs alongside their hips and theighs or if possible your kness alonside with your feet draped behind their theighs. Paige 0 #12 December 10, 2004 Don't wrap them all the way around. That will cause you to spin as I found out in Sebastian Keep them huggin the rig tight on the sides but if you cross your legs under the horse, wow its fun but not a successful rodeoTunnel Pink Mafia Delegate www.TunnelPinkMafia.com
