hmatousek 0 #1 June 9, 2004 I am helping run a hybrid challenge this weekend and would appreciate any advice on how to organize with various ability levels. I organized on my own last weekend and it seemed that many people had never done hybrids before. I had those people go out and do a three way with one experienced person and then built four belly flyers with two hangers from there. If you have any ideas I would greatly appreciate anything that comes to mind. Thanks, HeatherLife doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful! AggieDave 6 #2 June 10, 2004 vSCR, if you have some reasonable experience, they're fun to try... If you have some good RW types, have them turn hybrid pieces...(harder then it sounds)--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Snowflake 0 #3 June 10, 2004 Make sure the hangers can hang......try not to put newbies in the hanger slots, if you do make sure you know they have a solid dit
Zenister 0 #4 June 10, 2004 once you get the basic formations, say a 6way with 4 flats and 2 hangers, instead of always getting larger, you can turn each '3 way' piece for points too..its really cool how much control the hangers have to fly the whole peice around, and it keeps the dives interesting without adding more bodies that may not be ready for larger dives...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. hmatousek 0 #5 June 11, 2004 What advice can I give the hangers for turning the piece? I myself have never done that. Thanks, HeatherLife doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!
gemini 0 #6 June 15, 2004 We've done some pretty good sized hybrids and turned the pieces (usually a 3-way with 2 belly & a hanger). The belly flyers handle the turn (slow & steady) while the hanger handles the level. The hanger basically makes sure he is hanging straight and can get into a hang-sit or spread-leg position to slow down and stand to speed up. Belly flyers in face to face or side by side configuration turn by using their legs and maybe a little arm if you have a free one. Remember to keep your eyes on the other pair at all times because levels will change rapidly and the pairs can close very rapidly. I myself have never done that.hi Heather, i know your hybrid challenge was held this past weekend. but for future reference, jim (gemini) gave you some really good advice about turning the points in the hybrid. his son trent (trent on dz.com) could also give you some good advice. just send him a PM next time you are organizing another event. * Skydive Spaceland, imo, really knows their pooh when it comes to hybrids. they are always doing hybrids... really challenging & fun... perfect for what you are looking for if you have a moment.... Josh Hill took these really cool photos at Skydive Spaceland:: Turning Hybrid Points 1 and Turning Hybrid Points 2.
