skybob 0 #1 June 2, 2004 I would like to know what the nice people here think would be the best book or video for freefly training. I've got the sit fly down fairly good, but head down is giving me trouble, and really dont' know where to turn for the best information, other than coaching, which is not currently available to me. thanks in advance! and sorry if this is a common question! silvere 0 #2 June 8, 2004 I've been looking too skybob. to be honest watching Rook, Olav, or Blincoe doesn't help me at all because they make it look so easy. other than coach jumps I've been trying to watch other peoples coach jumps http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php if you find anything better let me know take care
WrongWay 0 #3 June 8, 2004 There really aren't any "instructional" videos out there. The book for "The Art of VRW" is pretty good, but it's pretty outdated, and the video is nothing more than eye candy (with the excpetion of Pat Works' 30 second sumup of head down). My advice, get any copy of video with Alaska Jon in it. That guy has the most hardcore perfect body position I've ever seen. Base yourself off of that. supafly 0 #4 June 8, 2004 I'm waiting for my copy of Brian Germain's Vertical Journey. I think its been out for quite a while so I'm not sure how up to date it is. But, if its anything like his canopy book (The Parachute and Its Pilot), it should be pretty good stuff. It used to be distributed with a VHS tape, but from what I understand, they are in the process of putting everything on DVD.Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
jmfreefly 0 #5 June 9, 2004 I glanced through it during his canopy seminar. It is pretty dated, and not as good as the information I have gotten through 1on1 coaching from say, Mike Ortiz or Max Cohn. Not to say the book isn't interesting, just not as good as you might hope for instructional purposes.
