alanab 0 #1 April 13, 2004 ok, so i have decided on a freak'n'suit for sure so please noone tell me to get something else:) basically i don't know the first thing about ordering a suit. i am 5'5'' and weigh about 140. i fall kind of fast but not too fast. i have been in a solid sit for about the past 60 jumps and have now worked up to manuverability. i can go forward and back, up and down, turns, dock, etc. i feel very confident in my sit pretty much and that is most of the flying that i do. i would like to try to get on my head sometime eventually too, so i would want this suit to work for both! i need to know what kind of fit i should order on my suit, ie. drag and baggyness. my freefly pants i have now i have been told are too baggy at the bottom for me. also, what kind of material should it be made out of/ lined with? they have supplex and poly cotton. last but not least, i need help with the design. i am interested in the waves, curves and flames patterns that can be seen here: http://www.flygearclothing.com. what looks good? my colors are purple, black, white, silver and i want to add baby blue to the design too. i know they have silver metallic piping, so that would be cool... but any ideas, help, and suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated as i would like to order this week with RUSH delivery:) thanks!!! *edit* added pic of my 69th jump:) to show my pants that i jump now. WrongWay 0 #2 April 13, 2004 ALANA BANANA!!! IMO, you should get just a standard straight legged suit, but get a heavier material like polycotton, and here's the reason why. The baggier the suit is, the more you're going to be flying the suit instead of your body, and it will even make it harder to get into certain positions and make certain movements because you'll be fighting the extra drag. Get heavier material to keep you from falling like a rock, and the lack of baggyness will help teach you how to fly your body. If you're too slow cuz of it (and test this for about 10-20 jumps before you do this so you can make sure you're used to the suit) then you can always have just about any rigger take in the seams an inch or so to correct it. However, take this (like my saying to get polycotton) with a grain of salt because I only know what works for me, and my body type is much different than yours. I'd still recommend polycotton in a little tighter fit, but I could be wrong, and if I were you I'd ask a female freeflyer on exactly what to get. Still, tighter and thicker is still better than thin and baggy IMO. Hope this helps!! Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails. AntiPinkChrissy 0 #5 April 13, 2004 hey alana, bummer i didn't get to meet you this weekend. Saw the video that my boyfriend Sporto shot and you looked great. anyway, i don't have enough freefly experience to recommend how to order your suit. I would recommend finding a very experienced freefly chic and seeing what she says, hopefully one will pipe in on this thread. In my experience so far, men don't understand that we have different challenges in skydiving than they do, including suits and canopy choices. I ordered my suit from Firefly and told her I needed a fast suit with little extra on it, and it came out awesome. As for the goggles, I use blaze, they are still a bit big on my face, but I think they are the smaller of most goggles. I have yet to find a pair of sunglasses to fit my freakish face! ~La La Gang Member #2~

I've just started trying to learn to freefly, and I have a suit I ordered from Tad's Sportswear (now Gravitator Airwear) almost 2 years ago that I never really used until now. It's a great suit, but it's WAY too baggy. I feel exactly like I'm fighting it the entire time. I simply didn't ask enough questions before I bought it, and ended up getting what I "thought" would be best. I was wrong... it all makes sense now. So, now what can I do with the suit. It's fairly light weight material, would having someone take in the seams make it worse? Or would it be a good idea to have some of the slack taken out of it? Thanks! Blues! PhreeZone 20 #13 April 13, 2004 Nooo... only 2 in the Greater Columbus area, not to mention one of the largest motorcycle parts stores in the US I'm going to say that you want the Suplex instead of the polycotton only since your arms are pretty high in that pic so its showing you are needing to go a bit faster. One word: GATORZ I have 2 pair and love them to skydive in. Find a dealer in your area and try them on. I have the Batrayz and the Ice. The Ice cover a bit more of my eyes - therefore - less eye water. Those two models also have smaller frames on the side and I think they look a bit more feminine. Other popular styles for skydiving are the Radiators and Converters. Katie Get your PMS glass necklace here

bertusgeert 1 #22 April 20, 2004 I was going to post about this as I am looking and learning as well. I talked to one guy who had his suit and mindwarp in the classifieds. I am the same size as he is, buit a little lighter (10 - 15lbs). He told me that a bagge suit is great to learn freeflying in. I know from my RW experience that I have a pretty fast fall rate. It brakes apart and I'm always the low man, I do the superman, and have to de-arch a lot to stay with some people. Would this fall rate apply to freeflying? As far as me having a faster fall rate? And that would obviously cause me to get a baggier suit right? Or is the way that i will freefly more important in changing my fall rate to match others than getting a tight, straight or baggy suit? Thanks all! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
