weegegirl 2 #1 April 6, 2004 I'm getting ready to order this season's suit and I'm not sure what material I should get... supplex or pollycotton. Here's my stats: 420ish jumps 5'6 135lbs solid sit just getting onto my head My sit speed is fine with other chicks, but I have to punch it to keep up with the boys sometimes, so I don't think I want anything that will slow me down. I'm JUST now stable on my head, so I can't be a good judge of my speed relative to others yet. However, I've been told I need to learn to slow it down a bit. Any suggestions on material? How about baggy vs. tight? Thanks! Liz
Andrewnewell 0 #2 April 6, 2004 What your gonna need is a suit that gives you the most range to fly with as many different people as posible.{ unless on a team where your lookin at trying to dial in with your other team mates fall rates}. Matter suits make nice strong suits that are usualy quite tight. they are hard work if your a bit heavy though. If your worried about going too fast get a more baggy suit with the drag in the right places. at the end of the day, if its too much you can allways get it taken in. I was actually thinkin about Freakin' Suits since the wait is real short and I'd like to get something pretty quick. But I'll look into Matter... not overly familiar with them. Thanks! Quote at the end of the day, if its too much you can allways get it taken in. This is a really good point too, that I hadn't thought about. I guess it's better to be baggier than tighter so you can take it in some if need be. Cool. Right on. Thanks a lot!!! I'm ordering a pair of pants from them because of their short turnaround and price. However, I came across Ouragan suits in Florida and am extremely pleased with the quality material and make of the suits. Their site's down right now but it's Ouragan. Good luck.Edited to fix my link... doh! Sure, it'll slow ya down, but the baggier it is, the more it's going to restrict your movements or make it difficult to move your limbs easily without fighting the wind. I'd suggest getting something tight or regular fit and get it thick. Like mine I'm ordering now, it's straight legged, no extra bagginess, but it has the duct cloth in it to provide the extra drag I need to go slower without giving me any more material to fight against. That's why all the top dogs these days (Alchemy for instance) are jumping tighter yet thicker suits. My opinion, especially with the kind of flying we'll be doing this season, I'd say go for the poly cotton. Like it was said earlier, it's easy for a rigger to take in the seam a little if it's too slow for you, but it's nigh on impossible to make it bigger or slower, so you're better off going for slow right off, and adjusting as we learn how your flying will be affected by the suit later. I jump Firefly suits and have never been disapointed.
