Kimblair13 0 #1 March 31, 2004 OK...I have about 140 jumps and have my sit down pretty darn good. I know, low jumps, but I started workin on my sit at jump 14. Anyway, I'm havin a lil more trouble with my head-down...I can get into right away doing a dive out from a cessna...but once i lose it I can't get back in so I just go to my sit. So...here is the q...what is the best way to get to a HD from a sit or whatever else. I've heard doing a cart wheel and other people say start tracking then bend at the waist...just wondering if there is any other brilliant ways...also...a really good FF coach should come over to Eugene Skyivers in Oregon and do some jumps with me :)...peace Kim W
skyfly 0 #2 March 31, 2004 before you do any physical changes with your body to go into a HD .... you've gotta do it mentally - think HD envision yourself in the potision. then just close your body into whats called the "natural position" (kind of like the sit, only with your body all closed up like a ball) and let yourself fall head first .... to start with, keep your hands close to your body, as so that they will not interfere with the natural HD orientation, and spread your legs as much as you can. this will make your body in the shape of a badmington ball, and will force your body into a HD. most important - keep your mind on "being HD" ... dont try to make it happen, just relax, and let it happen. once you mentally get it, HD is the easiest position to get into (now stay in control, thats another lesson) hope this helps.Be Simple, Be Creative, Bee! wzettler 0 #3 March 31, 2004 If you are going to do the tracking way, make sure you are perpendicular to the line of flight... I think when Jesus said "love your enemy" he probably meant don't kill them.

jmfreefly 0 #5 March 31, 2004 I agree, hands-on coaching is invaluable. That being said, a bunch of people end up doing a 1/2 cartwheel because they can keep the horizon in their visual the whole time. (This is assuming you are proficient in cartwheels in a sit) j
