WrongWay 0 #1 March 30, 2004 Sheesh, it's 7:30 in the morning and this is my second thread......I need to shut up. Okay so I'm gonna be ordering a new suit from Freak N Suits. I have one now that is straight legged and worked great for a long time, but I got this suit when I was new to the sport, and at that time I weighed......oh....about 140, and now I'm 185 (its been a few years, hahaha). The question is, when I order a new one, what options would you recommend to slow me down a bit? Should I keep it straight legged but ask for extra baggy, or should I get flared legs? Both?? Any info would be good. I'm tired of flying daffy with sitflyers. Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails. nacmacfeegle 0 #3 March 30, 2004 Different fabrics can help too, depends on options. Vertifly 0 #4 March 31, 2004 How tall are you? If your 180lbs and 5'10" than I don't see a problem with keeping the limbs less baggy. Plus with the added experience, you should be able to fly slower with ease. If your 180lbs and 5'5" than you should consider getting the extra drag. Double or triple layering will help a bit too if needed.
WrongWay 0 #5 March 31, 2004 I'm about 180-185 about I'm 6'1". I talked to the people at Freak N Suits, and she said I had a couple options. I could either get it extra baggy or I could have them double line the legs with polycotton or this other material (cant remember the name, strong accent ) that was kinda like canvas. Also, I didn't even think of this before. When I got the suit I have now, I was roughly the same height, give an inch or so, but I was only like 140. I gained all the extra weight when I finished growing, as I was only 18 when I got the suit I have now. Ya think maybe I've just outgrown/weighed the original suit, and just need one similar to what I have now but tell her I weigh 185 instead of 140??? diablopilot 2 #7 March 31, 2004 Definately think about your fabric choice. Just increasing the baggiens can restrict your range of motion, and that in turn will cause you to have less range in speed. It's a vicious circle. High drag fabrics (like those used by Matter for example) allow for a wide range of motion because you're not fighting against a huge amount of bagienes (which has inconsistant drag) thus letting you fly with a much wider speed range.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. WrongWay 0 #8 March 31, 2004 I think this is what I'm gonna do. I mentioned the whole thing about how I used to weigh a lot less? Well, I'm gonna order one with just a little extra floppiness with my current measurements, and that should do it, right? Also, experienced freeflyers.......you think I'll notice any difference in my flying (other than its slower) like more resistance on my limbs??? diablopilot 2 #9 March 31, 2004 QuoteAlso, experienced freeflyers.......you think I'll notice any difference in my flying (other than its slower) like more resistance on my limbs??? That is EXACTLY the problem with just making the suit baggier. You will find you range o motion goes down, while you simply end up flying faster....---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
