diablopilot 2 #1 March 12, 2004 Would it make a difference to you if a freefly suit manufacturer offered a LIFETIME warrenty on their product? Would it make you more likely to buy their product? Another Question. Would it make a difference to you who that company had as sponsored athletes? NOTE: Posted in General Skydiving as well.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

wzettler 0 #3 March 12, 2004 QuoteWould it make a difference to you if a freefly suit manufacturer offered a LIFETIME warrenty on their product? For me, I guess it would depend on what the warranty included for the suit. QuoteWould it make a difference to you who that company had as sponsored athletes? As far as who they sponsor, I really don't care. Who a company sponsors has no bearing on my decision of what gear I buy. I think when Jesus said "love your enemy" he probably meant don't kill them. NeedToJump 0 #4 March 12, 2004 A lifetime warranty on a freefly suit would not make a difference to me. I expect any suit I buy (freefly, RW, tunnel, etc.) to hold up for a long if I take good care of it. Obviously if I'm sliding in on my ass or knees every landing or rubbing my suit against the net at the bottom of the tunnel the suit will tear no matter what the warranty. The athletes sponsored by that company does make a difference to me. If I ask a sponsored athlete a question about a company they are sponsored by I expect them to take the time to talk to me about it. If they don't then to me it reflects poorly upon the company.Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
skymama 37 #5 March 12, 2004 QuoteWould it make a difference to you who that company had as sponsored athletes? No. I've never bought anything based off any kind of "celebrity" endorsement. Quality and price are the first things I look at in a product. In jumpsuits, I would also add fit and style to the requirements. What would a lifetime warranty cover? It's material...all material starts to break down after repeated washings and wearings and I expect it to wear out eventually. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
Brains 2 #6 March 12, 2004 I would guess that a company offering a lifetime warranty on their product felt pretty strongly about the quality or they wouldn't do it. That being said, i would def. consider that product as long as it was priced competitively with others of the same design. I have an RW suit that is falling apart after less than 200 jumps. I wish that company had any kind of warranty, hell, one snap on the booties fell off when i pulled it out of the box. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you. FallingILweenie 0 #7 March 12, 2004 The warranty thing would definitely make a difference for me. and the sponsor thing would only make a difference to me if it meant that there was a discount from getting gear either through the sponsored person or if you mentioned them or something like that. jmfreefly 0 #8 March 12, 2004 Yep, at this stage of the game, it would. I now own two sets of Firefly pants that have bled its colors all over itself, and that was from following the 'care instructions' on the label. j
diablopilot 2 #9 March 12, 2004 Quoteare you sponsored by matter now? Sponsored might not be the right word. I am the US distributor now. I'm trying to research the things that drive people to select one brand over another. When I worked for another jumpsuit manufacturer I found quality and style were important. I want to see what else matters.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
diablopilot 2 #10 March 12, 2004 QuoteWhat would a lifetime warranty cover? But it could cover the failure of a seam, or a zipper that goes bad after a few hundred jumps. Of course it wouldn't cover a big hole someone tore in the knee landing. And if a manufacture were to offer it, wouldn't they spend a lot of time researching materials to select the best qualities? Durability, looks, comfort. Next queston. When it comes to "style" what things do you look for? I know it's a broad question, so give me broad answers if you need.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. danwayland 0 #11 March 12, 2004 QuoteWould it make a difference to you if a freefly suit manufacturer offered a LIFETIME warrenty on their product? Not very much. If a seam or zipper does fail, I'm probably just going to sew it back up myself or pay a local rigger to fix it. They never charge that much and I'd rather not lose the jumpsuit for the time it takes to send it back to the manufacturer. However, if it was phrased correctly, it might indicate to me that the manufacturer is highly confident that the jumpsuit will go a really really long time without any patches or zipper replacements, and I would find that attractive. QuoteWould it make a difference to you who that company had as sponsored athletes? Again, not really. I think it does help get the name out there, though, especially if the name is prevelant on the rig. I think SunPath was smart to put the embroider the word Odyssey on the sides of all of their Odyssey rigs. Now everytime we see Alchemy, or even just regular joes in Parachutist wearing an Odyssey, it's a free ad for SunPath. I've never heard of Matter, so sponsoring some people might help get the name out there, but you might want to consider putting the name in large letters on at least the suits you give out to your sponsored people. But I think the key thing is creating a style that looks different and looks cool.-- Dan Wayland http://www.danwayland.com
skymama 37 #12 March 12, 2004 QuoteNext queston. When it comes to "style" what things do you look for? Hmmm...something that looks like I bought it in the year 2004, not 10 years ago. I don't know how you'd do that since jumpsuits are all pretty much the same, but if it's going to be the most expensive thing in my closet, I want it to at least look good. For example, flames were real hot a few years ago, and now they're not. You'd have to find something catchy that people would think looked really cool and fresh. If you found a material that flew well, but also dried quickly and was comfortable in the hot, humid summers, I'd definitely be interested. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
stevenblincoe 0 #13 March 15, 2004 I don't know anything about matter suits. I do know that I have put 120 HOURS of windtunnel and another 1000 jumps on my Freak'N'Suit and it has never had one problem. That's durable, I have run through a lot of suits this one has outlasted them all. Steven Blincoe
