sunnydee123 0 #1 October 27, 2003 Well had another weekend of lotsa headdown work (if you sonsider 8 jumps a lot)...understanding a bit more what a slight bend in one leg can do to ya (me no likey seeing the horizon upside down spinning like crazy ) but I also tried a new "exercise" that is good stuff......closing my legs, clicking feet and opening back up again - It allows me to really feel (and understand) what my legs are doing. Seems my problem is one lazy leg (almost a bit daffy) and catching a bit of air on my back. Got a GREAT tip from Dave Brown on the air on back thing - I'm working on it and as far as the leg...well, I'm working on it also. I have to admit, I got a bit bummed once or twice this weekend....just want something so bad and can't quite get it.....but I now have just 50 jumps trying headdown and don't want to get discouraged. It's a learning thing right.....and I love flying so until I feel it completely, I'm going to jump and learn and have fun! And ya know what.....I'm pretty happy with how much I've done so far (as if I haven't said that a few hundred times) - just gotta be patient, right? But if anyone wants to toss any more suggestions my way - I'm here to listen. Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...
ianmdrennan 2 #2 October 27, 2003 Quotejust gotta be patient, right? yep...practice, practice, practice. It sounds like you're doing splendedly for where you are right now. Just keep working on it and it'll get easier with every jump. Blue skies IanPerformance Designs Factory Team
WrongWay 0 #3 October 27, 2003 Get coaching!!! Coaching ROCKS. It seems like you've already been on that track if you've been hanging with Dave Brown, so keep it up!! sunnydee123 0 #5 October 27, 2003 I would love to spend an entire day or even weekend with Dave but unfortunately the pocket book won't allow for it. I'm doing what I can to gather enough to do at least 3 or 4 with him soon. I figure I will need at least that to try and get something out of it. No worries.....it seems I think, eat, breath amd dream headdown these days. It'll come to me and believe you me - everyone and there mother will know when it does! ianmdrennan 2 #6 October 27, 2003 Look me up in Eloy. I'd be happy to do a jump or 2 with you (planning on doing 100 anyway). I'm no DB by a long way (he's still one of the best FF teachers I've ever met), but I've taught my fair share of HD/Sit flying and you'd be happy to do a fun jump or 2. WrongWay 0 #9 October 28, 2003 Quote No worries.....it seems I think, eat, breath amd dream headdown these days. As crazy as it sounds, that helps!!! Ya know how they say to completely relax your upper body, and that fluidity is the key to headdown?? You can practice that all day every day, whether you're sitting at work or walking around. Just take a deep breath and let your upper body go totally relaxed. You get used to it, and it helps in the air, trust me!! Also, if you're going to Eloy, there are gonna be lots of coaches out there, so use your cash for that. I'll jump with ya out there, we'll have a blast!! grega 0 #10 October 28, 2003 Quote completely relax your upper body, and that fluidity is the key to headdown?? Hmm it's not really completely relaxed. somewhere i heard a great explanation: it's like head on your neck. if you completely relax your neck, your head will "fall" on one side. like when you fall asleep sitting. instead, you have to "control" it but your neck is still more or less relaxed. it's very similar with head down. you have to have your upper body relaxed and under "control". Hope you understand what i ment to say."George just lucky i guess!"
WrongWay 0 #11 October 28, 2003 Well put. I meant relaxed, but not limp. Kinda figured that'd be assumed, my bad. Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails.

sunnydee123 0 #17 October 29, 2003 Be careful what you ask for mister.....I've been known to browse the internet from time to time and might just find a "can't beat it" airplane deal. THEN you would REALLY have to come! As for Ian - I'm gonna wait and judge for myself. Always curious to know what someone thinks about my flying in just 7 months of doing it..... ***start the search for airfare tomorrow morning....means free coaching**** Dreams become reality, one choice at a time... ccowden 0 #18 October 29, 2003 You know ME, D! I can be bought! Or just get me to Eloy and we can all jump together! I would love to be there!!!
ianmdrennan 2 #19 October 29, 2003 Rule #1 - just fun (safety too of course), no pressure to perform or anything. The rest just comes with time Blue skies IanPerformance Designs Factory Team
sunnydee123 0 #20 October 30, 2003 no worries on Rule #1 or the "shit eating grin".....I think I'll be able to muster up a little of both And as for my little Badfish friend - Eloy you say? Unfortunately even I could not swing that one - it is my Christmas present but if there is ANY way you can REALLY consider Eloy - hop on Southwest. That would be the ribbon on top of my present for sure! Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...
ccowden 0 #21 October 30, 2003 Ahhh! Thanks D! I wish I could! But tickets are $500 or better now and I just can't swing it. There will be soo many people in Eloy I want to see too! Guess we need to start a "Get Chris to Eloy Fund"
ianmdrennan 2 #22 October 30, 2003 $500 or better? Damn dude - we got them for $200 a piece, but we couldn't be flexible with the dates. Try looking from the 24th - 2nd on Southwest (if you haven't already). Blue skies IanPerformance Designs Factory Team
sunnydee123 0 #23 October 30, 2003 Well I paid $364 and jumped cause all I was finding was $500 ish also.............Crap - I could really use some BadFish love too. I'm just thinking, between you and Ian I'm betting I could get on my head...if I'm not on it by the time I get there. If I AM on my head, I'm sure I'll need lots of helping "staying still"...........Keep looking Chris, you shouldn't have to make a payment no that new house YET do ya? Ahhh, just skip the first one and tell the you forgot Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...
ccowden 0 #24 October 30, 2003 Well, if you actually got between Ian and I, there is no telling what would happen! You would probably be more than just on your head! Ohhhh....... You meant like between the two of us as far as coaching!
ianmdrennan 2 #25 October 30, 2003 Now if that isn't an incentive enough to come to Eloy...then I'm all outta suggestions Blue skies IanPerformance Designs Factory Team
