696GrocuttT 0 #1 September 26, 2003 I'm thinking of doing a hybrid jump with 2 people flat flying pinned facing each other, and a 3rd person in stand hanging down from the chest straps. I have seen several pictures of this type of jump, but I don't know the best way to get into this position without it turning into a tumbling mess . Are there any additional safety considerations with this type of jump. thanks tom
gus 1 #2 September 26, 2003 I've done a couple of these. We had the two flatties floating with the person that's going to do the hanging diving whilst already holding onto the chest straps. Launch the flat 3-way then have the freeflyer go into sit/stand. Works like a charm GusOutpatientsOnline.com
NeedToJump 0 #3 September 26, 2003 Have the flat flyers take high grips on each other and put their heads next to each other so they don't hit them during the freeflyers transition. QuoteAre there any additional safety considerations with this type of jump. Yes. The flat flyers need to make sure that their gear is freefly friendly and all three need to have a plan for breakoff and for what to do if it funnels. You probably should not have other freeflyers flying around you guys until "the base" is comfortable and can hold the hybrid for the entire dive. Talk to some of the experienced freeflyers at your dz about it too. Be careful and have funWind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
skydive84 0 #4 September 29, 2003 Get the flat guys to take high grips for extra stability. Take cheststrap grips and come out flat then once youre all stable bring your knees up and push under. Start in a ball/sit then push it into a stand. Also if the flat guys are wearing goggles suggest they tighted them as they can expect to go at least 30mph faster. Have fun Adi
muffmuffmuff 0 #5 October 7, 2003 send me an address & i'll send you a cd of a screwcopter....... it's a two way flat with a hanger underneath. have the flats drop a knee and spin it....and you have the screwcopter. -mad max aka papa screw #1Quote[email] -co-inventor of the screw copter
 696GrocuttT 0 #6 October 9, 2003 We tried it last weekend, worked like a charm. The only problem was that our cameraman got nicked at the last minute to film a tandem We are planning to do it again this weekend, but its almost guaranteed to go pair shaped if we have someone filming it
 mr2mk1g 10 #7 October 10, 2003 We tried that at the weekend too - seems our chest straps were too tight as the hanger couldnt get his hands in them. Lesson learned. Good job the tracking dive we did first was so much fun. Once it had settled down the 2 flats grip switched so they are just holding each others arm grips leaving the hanger in flat on the side just holding the chest straps. Then he just goes into stand. Now got some realy good video of it
 Caseadilla 0 #9 October 14, 2003 Hybrids are a hell of a lot of fun! There are many different ways they can be done. Try doing a hybrid jump where everyone gets to fly, and not just sit and watch everyone else have fun. Try launching a two or three way and have the third person take chest straps and hang. Then have the hanger come out of the stand back to belly. Break and have the two belly flyers do a 360 then back to the two way. Hanger come back in- take chest straps and back to stand. Then try rotating the whole formation 360 degrees. Then, when you get that down, try adding a stinger as the fourth man. Try something similar to this. Start out small and simple, and add new challenges as you go. Have a blast and be safe! Or would the lower hanger rip his arms out trying to hold on.-- It's never too late to have a happy childhood. Just make sure both the hangers are pretty experienced (especially the bottom hanger). The lower hanger has to start the stand first and he will drag the top hanger down into position.______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J.
