andy2 0 #1 June 5, 2003 hello, this will be short and painful, I've seen the discussion of the sit tube, seen video of tubes, they look fun, but what is the point? Is it just to look cool flying around in the sky and shit? Or is there a purpose that I am missing? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... keithwilfort 0 #3 June 5, 2003 andy i think you answered your own question... "they look fun"
tosca 0 #4 June 5, 2003 They can be fun to use as toys and be better references then just a skydiver. I.e. if you do a pylon race the tubes are good to use for the pylons. You can make nice pictures (maybe for a sponsor). Somehow, it increases the feeling of flying instead of falling, I think.
Kris 0 #5 June 6, 2003 *Kris tears away from the 100th viewing of his tube flight video from last weekend...* Because they look sweet on video. Really though, it makes for a great base reference point. It's a little more fun than the average "campfire" dive, and when seen in freefall is just visually stunning. I've also noticed that my sit is a lot better after flying my ass off to remain balanced and in my column of air with that thing. It's a little more zen, a little less thought without it. I'm using Phreezone's sit tube right now and it's a blast to jump with. I'm going to be sad when I have to give it back to him at Rantoul.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
kansasskydiver 0 #6 June 6, 2003 it looks freaking cool and the fact that i was almost in a spike with belly fliers. it's a whole new dimension of skydiving. kinda like a night jump. yeah you're still skydiving just like you always do, but it changes things. you're in a spike or a sit but not traveling as fast. it's hard to explain... it's also f$%King weird watching it the deployment with it. kinda gives you that ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww oh ok it worked. even scarier on video sometimes. it's worth it. and everyone wants to be your friend now and jump the tube haha "mr. skydiver, can i play with your tube" is all i hear from my fellow jumpers now hahahaha<--- See look, pink dolphins DO exist! andy2 0 #7 June 6, 2003
when seen in freefall is just visually stunning
Ok, I get it now, I was thinking this over, it would be sorta nuts to be free flying right next to that tube. So far in my short skydiving career I have found, different = fun --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
