Dokeman 0 #1 August 9, 2003 I am looking to buy a helmet and was wondering if the GATH will hold an audible altimeter. I was reading a few reviews and all of the common open face helmets have mixed reviews. I was looking at the hurricane also. I know the hurricane will hold one, but i have read that some people were have trouble with the adjustment knob in the back breaking, so... I like the GATH because from what ive read its seems to be pretty light and not very bulky which is what i want. I have seen a few pictures of people jumping them with altimeters but i dont know how they got them attatched. i cant find anywhere that actually says that it will hold one or which ones. Mabey someone can give me some ideas.
indyz 1 #2 August 9, 2003 Quote I was reading a few reviews and all of the common open face helmets have mixed reviews. This is most due to personal preference and the fact each manufacturer's helmet fits best on a different head shape. I know people who are perfectly happy with their Gaths, Mindwarps, Aviators, Hurricanes, and Protecs, but most of them would have a hard time getting a good fit in all of those different models of helmets. Ask around your DZ, and try on other people's helmets. Find one that fits you well and offers the features and protection that you want. For what it's worth, the Gath is typically regarded as offering the least protection and the Protec the most among open-faced helmets. Oh yeah, and the original question: I seem to remember that Gath Sports was offering an aftermarket kit to add an audible mount to the Gath Hat, but I can't find any information about it. BMFin 0 #3 August 10, 2003 There is the "gath sky hat pack" . Its about 10-15 $ . I have one, and no problems yet, but theres always the change of riser sweeping it away when its placed on the outside of the helmet.

If you have the Gath Sky Hat Pack there is next to NO chance of a riser Strike knocking it off. I have one on my Gath it's a plastic cover that fits over the Dytter (or pro track) and is screwed to the Helmet, it's not going anywhwere See Pic AttachedYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! CloudOnMyTongue 0 #6 August 10, 2003 Sorry to interject here. But could someone suggest a helmet that is kind of the same style as the gath but with a little more head protection and an internal audible. I've been to the gear section and had a look around, I'm just kind of wondering what would be the next step up (cost wise)
BMFin 0 #7 August 10, 2003 Thats a little different from what I have. Yours seems safer... Heres some blurry pics of mine.. EDIT: The pics were in wrong format...
masher 1 #8 August 11, 2003 I've got the same as Squeak. The standard issue L&B Dytter clip holds your audible, and there is a clear plastic cover that is screwed on over the top of that. There is no way* that that is going to come off. You can buy the Gath Skyhat which has it already installed (as I did) or you can order just the plastic cover. The people from Gath came to our DZ to test jump them, to make sure you could still hear everything... From speaking with them, depending on demand, they would consider bringing out a plastic cover for the opposite side too. *of course Murphy is always lurking.-- Arching is overrated - Marlies
