Tonto 1 #1 February 6, 2003 Just looking to see what kind of support there is for people trying to get a spaceball operation going at their DZ. Votes please, t It's the year of the Pig.
AggieDave 6 #2 February 6, 2003 With all the houses and multi-million aircraft on the airport at my DZ, it would be about crazy to jump with a spaceball. Even guys with AD's sometimes miss...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
cheneyneel 0 #3 February 6, 2003 My DZ all deepends on who you are.. Reputation goes along way. Any big named freelyers say when the Nelsons come in they can jump it. But as far as locals? You have to be on the up and up with the DZO and your skills.. Proof has to be given and is judged..
ColdDuck 0 #4 February 6, 2003 At my DZ they allow it but only a couple of people to jump it. They determine who gets to jump with based on their skill level. And they fly a special jump run over nothing but farm fields regardless of the winds. "Insurance should called In case shit happens, if shit don't happen shouldn't I get my money back?" hookitt 1 #5 February 6, 2003 QuoteEven guys with AD's sometimes miss... Even the inventor of the AD has missed. The one I frequent the most does not allow it. The other 3 do. AD #28 none dropped..... yet.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
freeflycracker 0 #6 February 11, 2003 My DZ does allow the "Vladball" but no standard tennis balls.
FallingILweenie 0 #7 February 11, 2003 your dz allows us to freefly......which is bad enough
listo 0 #8 February 11, 2003 My dropzone in South Carolina, Blue Sky Adventures, allows spaceball jumps. They require that a "ball master" or AD rated jumper that has passed a "ball master" eval jump at the dz be on the jump. This place is surrounded by miles of trees and swamp so a missed ball isn't likely to hit anything of value. The other pre-requisite is that ball jumps must be done over the swamp on days when the prevailing wind allows for spots over the swamp. To my knowledge, no balls have been lost there in the 4 years that they have been jumping with them there.Live today as tomorrow may not come
